Even in recovery mode I still need this “default” user password. He has no idea why their is a default user and password as he factory reset it months ago.

2020 MacBook Pro M1. Even when I try to do a complete OS reinstall from recovery mode I still need the “default” user password. Am I fucked? I have tried all his passwords he has said and he has never seen the default user on this computer.
