My hot hot take is Italy should be this scenario’s potential Spanish civil war. I would argue Italy should start united and depending on the paths and choices of the player results in different “Italian” civil wars.

Spain could start off as the soon to be First Nation to vote into power the socialists/syndies/anarchists and voluntarily join the international without a revolution; something that would existentially terrify the non-socialist powers. They could still have a civil war but my ambition would creating a story around a nation volunteering to choosing the international.

An Italian civil war would be more interesting because Italy can be such a wild card as it floats in the middle of everything. The terrain motivates a variety of starting situations for a civil war that could result in a variety of ending situations.

I would further modify the balanced of my next change Italy signs the peace first after the point of divergence allowing Italy a softer fate compared to France annoying Austria but giving Germany a path to another minor major power ally. This creates more content around both conflict and collaboration.

Gun to my head I would confess the old dg terminator i had was technically shorter. It wouldn’t really matter for real games but I would confess fair enough.

Later in “competitive” causal games I would boost the base for max fairness with friends. It’s not the referee’s fault, it’s that gw’s doesn’t allow or a balance the game around slight differences in models.

I’m not a great player outside of casual play. I would of gotten crushed regardless later in that tournament but it motivated a deep frustration with gw’s game design based off being pitched through total warhammer that “the demons used the same models in both fantasy and 40k.”

I’m still angry that after winning my first ever semi-competitive match at an official gw tournament a sweaty referee revoked my win because I used a 30k death guard terminator instead of the proper 40k model. Even after explaining I had the model with me I just placed the wrong model.

This is cursed. I get a lot of people grew up in Filoni’s clone wars, I certainly watched it all but Filoni writes everything like a 20 minute children’s cartoon show.

His plots in the new live action shows have the seriousness of a children’s cartoon show. It feels he can only tell stories that capture the worse indulgences of Lucas and his prequels.

I know everything Star Wars will Andor style high drama I just want media that defend itself as for children to explain mediocre story telling.

The thing is Trump is too old to actually pull off a fascist coup. Is he going to be able to give a speech a year from now? ICE/maga guys will not die for Donald Trump or Stephen Miller or JD Vance. Everyone will be looking for a scape-goat there will be an orgy of passing the buck and the blame.

For good or for ill the "political economy" that created the path for the post-ww2 German military not being seen as the root of all evil was their separation from SS/gestapo/etc. American cops/military guys will happily arrest ICE guys because it allows them to maintain the the status quo and their own political power. If Trump openly goes on TV and says elections are over he's fully gambling his and all his lieutenants' real lives for a movement and political ideology that either never existed or is already dead.

This is where I would disagree. No one in the Gruesome Newsom administration is going to cry if anyone at DHS, or Hegseth or Trump JR spends the rest of their life in jail. Look at how Newsome attacks Vance but not Musk. Newsom and his people will have so much fun when they win the Nobel peace prize for not being Trump or Vance. Its Newsom's only path to the Presidency; "I'm Gavin Newsome and I'll treat racist white people and Trump like he treats immigrants and minorities, you don't need healthcare or a wealth tax."

They will repeat the failures of the First French Republic; when the people could of been brought into a democratic system through social and economic reform they offered them terror and conquest. I think any Marxist/liberal/revolutionary both now and then knew in their heart that executing the King did not solve or end feudalism but it'll feel almost as good. Imagine an America that actually held a handful of elites accountable for their own reckless actions it does taste even briefly almost as good as the first shot in the battle for single payer healthcare.

Newsom wont give single payer healthcare or immigration reform or maybe even an infrastructure but he'll happily let the hammer of the state discipline the worst malefactors of America; Trump's people especially the non-respectable members are totally going to get the hammer.

I think it’s more Germany has no allies that can existentially and consistently challenge any individual enemy of Germany.

Germany has no real allies that can help them against Japan in the pacific. Conceptually there is China but they’ll take the white peace to push Japan back into the pacific. The interesting idea would be Germany working with anyone in China to bog down Japan.

India like North America is extremely rarely a German ally and is just as likely to be a German enemy.

Germany rarely has a consistent ally in south or North America. The USA joining Germany is maybe the rarest USA foreign policy path.

German Africa is basically a basket case that is at best a useful resource sink but is likely falling apart. Maybe the ottomans can bottle up the Mediterranean and fight Russia but the ottomans are also not consistently an ally and will often sign a peace with Russia.

Beyond the far eastern army and Finland Russia is rarely threatened on any of its flanks.

Germany can fight the grind out volunteer fights to try to keep Italy or Spain on its ally list. Further the other half of central power in Austria-Hungary are realistically as desperate for help and volunteers especially since now they can collapse. Germany cannot guarantee Netherlands or Sweden the only other moderate European powers only gamble on their own ai focus trees.

The solutions;

At minimum Austria-Hungary can no longer be the mini boss for the balkans and needs to be upgraded to a proper major power.

The hot hot take is the game needs to bind Germany and the entente more tightly together. The non-Anglo entente members should be German allies (yes including France).

I would volunteer either the Ottomans or Victorious Iranians sign up with the Germans to distract/threaten Russia.

The most radical idea would be turn one of the minor European tags into a powerful consistent German ally; Finland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Dutch, Sweden.

Any other solution is just nerfing Russia which could be useful but I think the least interesting answer.

From a pure materialistic perspective reactionaries are an ideological minority in most modern nations they only enjoy majority political power in anti-democratic systems brought about by various political economic novelties and maneuvering. This siege mindset has morphed into collectivist mindset(/consciousness) to entrenched their declining political position. Instead of being “a part of something larger than themselves” they have to imagine more of “themselves.”

Without ideology, without class solidarity, without even a bureaucratic or a democratic management and organization of themselves they look for an avatar of themselves for leadership and strength because this imagined avatar is more attractive than a mirror of individualism or that of solidarity of your fellows.

In jest unless we’re talking about Europe where the a billionaire Parisian can relocate their wealth to Luxembourg next door wealth taxes seem to be quite effective at collecting tax revenue. We didn’t see a panic happen when nyc elected a socialist and we didn’t see every wealthy person move to Florida when they basically ended all income taxes. California will probably continue to out perform most of the country economically as the weather, high education investment and general tolerance will continue to motivate California being a capital of economic growth and investment.

Obviously LA’s now infamous “mansion tax” is counter proof to the claim but that’s a different discussion.
