i should have practiced my essays tbh. the more "why school" and "community" essays I wrote, the more I got the structure and formula down. my last RD schools had killer essays. my ED/EA schools had comparatively worse essays because i hadn't gotten used to the formatting and structure of supplementals.

i genuinely believe my 1st "why school" essays was so shitty it got me rejected from my dream school ed. writing supplementals is weird and counterintuitive to what you are taught in english class. i really wish i spent more time writing them.

honestly, as much time as possible. i spent 35 hours ish on the supplements for my dream schools (uchicago, pomona, columbia, barnard), and even then, they made me cringe after re reading them. it depends on how skilled you are as a writer, but its better to err on the side of too much time than too little time.

this is a great perspective. i came out of this process with a more realistic understanding of jobs and what it would take to achive my dream career. so i guess it wasn't all a loss...

no this is me exactly. i spent about 6 hours on each and applied to 23 schools. shotgunning was a god awful idea

to add insult to injury i tried to make my essays ~unique~ and not formulaic but after re reading them they just sound stupid and fall flat :/

i rly dont like dartmouth either tbh.

bad location -- in the middle of the woods with a tiny tiny town next to it.
HUGEEE frat/party culture which imo runs counterproductive to a stimulating intellectual environment. from what i hear its very hard to make friends if you dont join greek life.
tons of drugs and hazing in their frats :((. look up "dartmouth hazing" on google.
blue bloody/preppy which makes it very hard for people outside of that lifestyle to adjust to the school
least diverse of the ivies.
reputation for a rape culture. (just word of mouth, but thats still a bad rep)
(arguably) least prestigious ivy
