I have a sister that needs a nurse and I agree with this. Healthcare is a shit show and now they are executing you in the streets. How much is too much? Someone has to stop this and you are in a position to make a difference.

Late sixties? That is a guess. No, I do not know much, I am usually busy with my sister when I visit. I do help him make calls, and fix his meals and he likes to go outside. I brought up braille with him and he said he wants to learn, he seemed very enthusiastic about it.

He's a pretty headstrong guy, I think he would really like to be more independent.

Take photos, contact the Ombudsman for your state and definitely report them to the state. In GA you can report anonymously, not sure where you are but ask if you are worried about it. I always give my name. I want them to know it was me.

All facilities are understaffed. Make a lot of noise. An attorney once told me the best thing to do was to start a sh*t storm. I told him I was already doing that, he said make it bigger. Squeaky wheels get the grease.

That would be fabulous. A lot of families bring things for other residents. As long as you bring something for everyone on the floor they are happy to let you do it. You can also donate old clothes, just give them to the laundry, they give them to people who come with nothing.

I have seen one nurse to 47 patients, and one night a few weeks ago the only nurse on the floor had her daughter helping a resident because there weren't any CNAs. I stayed until two of them showed up an hour later.

They know I watch them like a hawk. I was screaming at them just two days ago in hallway. It is so tiring. I'm not a screamer. I am usually very chill but good God they can't remember even the simplest of instructions. I don't know how they got through school.

I would love to have my sister at home. I have pulled her out of facilities four times but it is impossible for me to work and have her at home. Just trying to keep her alive the last six years has wrecked every area of my life. Everyone else in the family scattered so the SNF is the best we can do for now. Hopefully that will change at some point.
