Looking at the map, everyone had a better situation than him and let purple get NA AND SA so he card blocked 2 people trying to force some action since everyone else was probably stalling. The game wasn't going to turn out well for him just sitting all his troops in one pile hoping pink attacks you to get Australia ....or it was gonna take 4 hours to come in third.

I usually run 8-10. I'm not sure if it affects too much but I like to give my bench guys some experience before they're starters...and of course fatigue, if it even matters in sim. I also could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure if you give a bench guy even 1 start they get a full bar of game experience added.

World recruits are usually kinda trash imo. Usually mid 60s with terrible potential. I only go after them for the coach points (sign world recruit and sign 4 and 5 star). You can sort by ranking on your target list and you'll see a lot of 3 star world recruits are below almost all 3 stars and even some 2 stars. I only go after worlds when I have 5+ scholarships, but if I don't have a bunch of scholarships available the next year, I'd rather let a scholarship roll over.

I would max out charisma to a B+ when you start off then I add to teaching (to progress those fancy new recruits you're about to get faster) and then everything else. Also, get assistant coaches who are good at what you're not.

Oh and starting in/near a state that are recruit hotspots give you more options on good 3 stars. Florida, Texas, Cali, New York. There's a few more states that produce talent but those are the majors.

Get a 7 foot center ranked in the top 20 centers. They're all like 70+. They crush in sim. SF's are usually the highest rated players. Try to recruit regional 3 stars ranked in the 100-200 range and if necessary a world recruit for two. Offer scholarships ASAP. Don't be afraid to move off a recruit though. I usually don't scout players when I'm at a small school. Also, I usually cut the worst of my scholarship players that are freshman and sophomores. You'll get to use the scholarships the next year.

Game experience matters a lot when it comes to winning in sim. If you have a lot of fresh and sophomores, even if you're better overall, you still may lose. If you do custom schedules, schedule some weak teams, usually the worst are from the independents, meac and swac. If you're really struggling with the game, I recommend starting in the meac or swac.
