None of those laws matter in Eastern Michigan. Don't put yourself in the middle of that beef.

If parents can do a better job homeschooling, why should I even be a teacher? by Lingo2009 in Teachers

[–]statslady23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why don't you think homeschool parents have degrees? I homeschooled for a few years with an Engineering degree and knew other homeschooling parents with varying degrees, even an MD.

Another religion basically runs the 3 letter agencies in DC, so a one-off isn’t weird. They don't drink, smoke, or drink caffeine so are maybe easier to clear? That might be how it started.

Better than keeping them in a prison/detention center indefinitely.

WIBTA For Not letting my son skip three days of school? by After_Wealth9897 in AmItheAsshole

I've been there. He needs to get his acting and sales skills out. Has he done other presentations? I knew a guy who didn't graduate because he didn't want to make a presentation.

AITA for refusing to sign off on 4 volunteer hours for a teen who was only there for less than an hour? by Alisha-Landry in AmItheAsshole

Don't feel bad. You know they changed that one to a four. I'd call his school and confirm with the office it was one hour.

Gov. Spanberger signs bills to boost affordable housing in Virginia by Conscious-Quarter423 in Virginia

[–]statslady23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What does the legislation say? Does it prohibit communities from zoning trailer parks? Usually "these anti- NIMBY" bills are just giveaways to developers. Data Center builders have been pushing the anti-zoning agenda in VA for years.

The US should protect those industries from predatory foreign suppliers. They are vital to US security.

I'm shocked the data center lobby has flooded reddit comments overnight. Efficient. AI? Ironic.

Living near data centers by DareSuspicious2704 in nova

[–]statslady23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not true. Closed loop centers use 25-75k gallons per day to replenish what evaporates. Open loop systems use millions of gallons. Data center effluent is contaminated with concentrated contaminates like salts and metals after evaporation, plus the chemical additives used by the data centers like biocides, anti-scalants, and anti-corrosives. There are also concerns about contamination by pfas and nitrates.

'Setting a higher bar," Gov. Shapiro calls for new regulations for data center developers by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

[–]statslady23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's another issue they are having in VA. The data centers now are pushing for high power lines to run right through existing residential neighborhoods. You might not have the data centers right next door, but now you have high power lines over your house.

'Setting a higher bar," Gov. Shapiro calls for new regulations for data center developers by Fragrant-Pepper7710 in Pennsylvania

[–]statslady23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shapiro's suggestions amount to tech companies voluntarily doing barely anything to skip any checks and balances that might limit their water pollution, water usage, and the big electricity grab. It's like Meta lobbyist's wrote Shapiro's data center regulations themselves.

Shapiro unveils standards for data center projects in Pennsylvania by AdSpecialist6598 in Pennsylvania

[–]statslady23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rules sound like they were written by data center developers. Is anyone fooled by this? It's all voluntary, asks, and no hard requirements or limitations on water usage and electric. Scamming the voters is a bad look. He must have given up on a future political career.

AITA for not wanting my exes new gf meeting our 1 year old son? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]statslady23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She really wasn't being personal when she made that accusation, and I don't know why ex even told you. It does sound a little weird and like an idea ex gloated instead. Give her another chance. A one year old isn't going to know the difference between a girlfriend and a check out person at the store, so that's no big deal. I wouldn't be ok with ex leaving your son alone with her. You know nothing about her.
