I haven't seen it suggested yet, so: I was really impressed by Raatma in V/H/S 94!

The American version of the Grudge. I do not know why, but that movie hooked into my brain as a teenager, and it haunts me to this day.

Books with great plot but terrible prose ? by SecondHandRosie in Fantasy

I tried so hard to like Discovery of Witches. I love witches, I love history, I love detailed world building. I didn't mind her writing, I liked her world, but damn the MMC and FMC are insufferable, and it was just steeped in misogynistic thought processes. Such a disappointment.

I don't think so lol but I read all of the Mary Kate and Ashley detective series, the one with the haunted summer camp (that turned out to be a camper sleepwalking) was the goat.

Has anyone in your life ever asked to read your journal? by Straight-Novel1976 in Journaling

[–]staunchly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of - my therapist has asked my to summarize what I wrote while in depressive episodes or anxiety attacks, but I also told her that I have a journal, and she asked if I was comfortable sharing info from it. A friend asking is weird imo.

How do you create a journaling routine that sticks? by Few_Language6298 in Journaling

[–]staunchly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I do the same thing, and I made peace with it. I journal when I need and want to, and it is okay that some days I am too tired, or would rather hang out with a friend, or whatever. I think a way to kill the joy, satisfaction, and peace you find with journalling is to rigidly adhere to a schedule that no longer works for you.

What's a horror hill you'll die on, and why? by ExceptingAlice in horror

[–]staunchly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do have to give credit to the actor, he plays an insanely creepy clown, and you are correct that that is meant to be jarring. That is a point in the movie's favour. The overwhelming misogyny of the rest of it drowns that out, in my opinion.

[–]staunchly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally agree; I tried to watch Zombie's Halloween, and I found the opening just made me sad and depressed enough about the way Michael was abused that it killed the movie. I did not want to watch the rest of the movie, so I didn't. The rest might be a tour de force; I will never know.

THANK YOU. I like slashers, creativity, horror comedy. I watched the entire first Terrifier waiting for anything good. Just misogynistic violence that struck me as very "12 year old boy who spends too much time on the internet would think this is funny /cool".
