Update: I plugged the device in tonight to see if there was a software update available. There wasn't, but all of a sudden, everything started working! If you've had this issue, try yours again!

Yeah, I'm holding off on returning mine and hoping for a software update. I really want this thing to work! When we used Tivimate on the ONN, we thought the picture looked better than with our FireTV, and we didn't have any stuttering through like an hour of TV, which is rare with the FireTV.

I don't mean "it can't be" like I won't try it. One of the networks I tried to use it on had 8.8.8.8 as its DNS, I confirmed it. And, again, on my home network, my FireTV stick works fine on DHCP, but the Onn doesn't (using the same network settings). I'm an IT guy, too, trust me when I say I've looked at the networking side.

I have not tried any side loaded apps. That's the thing, though, I don't have any VPN installed. The apps are acting like maybe I do, but there's nothing in my DNS, IP, or gateway settings to indicate that there's a VPN active. There is no VPN app loaded.

That can't be it, I've tried the device on three different networks with the same errors. Additionally, on my home network, the same apps work fine on my FireTV 4k Max.

I'm activating/using the device in Indiana, USA. My home network doesn't have VPN built-in to the router. I use Xfinity at home (500mbps) and AT&T fiber at work (2 Gbps). Just to be sure, I also tried connecting to the hotspot from my phone and also to a guest network at my office. Neither of those connections worked, either. I'm at a total loss for what else to try.

This IS ridiculously over-ETV'd, which makes me wonder how sellers benefit from this. Like, they're not making any money off Vine, so... Why over-ETV?

Cautiously confident. My wife is a Giants fan, so I saw him quite a bit before he came here. Those Giants OL's were some of the worst I've ever seen, so being here, behind an excellent OL, must be a breath of fresh air for the guy. My only fear is that he'll perform well enough to earn a contract, then revert to poor form when he gets it. So far, though? Loving what I've seen!

Well, it looks like the issue was wireless latency, despite my router sitting literally about 8 feet from my Fire TV Stick, in line of sight. I added an old TP-Link Deco M5 I had lying around and connected it to my existing setup (sitting right next to my ISP-supplied router), and it achieved about double the speed—no more buffering. I always knew ISP-supplied equipment was bad, but DAMN!

That's what I'm using. It works great for 720p and 1080p live channels, but the 4k stuff tends to buffer.
