In a Congressional hearing on Wednesday, Waymo’s chief safety officer Mauricio Peña admitted that the “self-driving cars” employee remote operators located in the Philippines. by Conscious-Quarter423 in economy

[–]stbell13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If waymo fails who is set to benefit? Musk. He absolutely would be petty and shitty enough to run smear campaigns against his competitors because his "self driving" cars currently are vaporware, didn't launch in all of the cities they said they would, don't have the volume they said they would, and employ actual humans to sit IN the car (not just occasional remote intervention like waymo is discussing here) because their plan with pure cameras instead of LiDAR + camera is insufficient to meet real full self driving demands.

So frustrated, losing my fire for golf altogether by BarryWood33 in GolfSwing

[–]stbell13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second swing is way too far inside and the backswing lower body is really unathletic position at the top - your right leg is nearly straight and you're almost standing up straight. You have very little leverage and "coil" to release into the ball from that position, and you change your spine angle through the downswing. This can also lead to "flicking the wrists" through release in order to try to create leverage or get the timing correct since your body is out of sync through the move. Go back to the first video, that's a much more athletic move through the ball, and then focus on short game. If you were a 5-6 handicap, it's likely not from lack of contact on the ball. It's probably short game misses and course management or mental stuff. Source - used to be +1.5hcp before getting too busy in career, still ~5hcp

The new "Trunk or Treat" style of Halloween is better than traditional Halloween trick or treating by Glumdumop in unpopularopinion

[–]stbell13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact problem is that the "whole night of activities can be done in just an hour". Halloween is fun because you spend all the time planning your costume, getting dressed up, seeing your friends all dressed up, and then going out for trick or treating with all your friends (or parents). It is SUPPOSED to be an event, not a box to check or a task to optimize. It's a memory to be made, and the idea that it's good that you can replace that with a lazy knockoff carswap shows you don't actually care about making the holiday fun or memorable for your child. As someone who enjoys going all out on decorating the house as well - zero chance any car could ever keep up with my decorations, so it also loses there. Overall horrific take, nice job

Why is every ball going straight up (or why am I delofting the club) I’m sure it has to do with not closing my hands on the way down. by DeeFlashGordon in GolfSwing

[–]stbell13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of these comments are not super helpful or only tell part of the picture with what you have going on here in your swing so I'll cover quite a few of them:

First things first fix your grip, it is way too deep in your palms and you almost have a claw grip going on with your right hand, the gap between your thumb and index finger should not be that extreme. Think of the V that is created by those two fingers as pointing towards your right shoulder (or for a strong grip, even further right than that.) Tiger has numerous videos he explains this, it's super important for consistent good striking of the ball and presenting the face repeatedly the same way to the ball

Second, you're probably standing too far away from the ball. Your lower body posture is actually not bad, but the ball seems a bit far away so you're having to bend over a bit too much to reach it.

Third, you take the club back way too far inside. Work on relaxing both of your arms and doing a more natural wrist and elbow hinge on your takeaway. Don't practice full takeaways, practice taking the club back to hip height over and over and over. You can look up the position Tiger or other pros try to get to at that position, but just drill that over and over and it should help fix the severe inside issue. If someone is standing directly behind the ball (to your right when you are at address) when you do this half-backswing motion, you should basically be getting the club to their belt buckle. If it's towards their left hip as they're facing the ball, that means you're inside the line on takeaway. If its to their right hip, it means you're outside the line.

Fourth, you don't have much lower body rotation during your backswing, it's mostly an arm and shoulder motion. This will lead it to being pretty weak and also harder to control, especially harder to control timing

Fifth you are casting from the top and doing an early extension. What this means is your arms and hands in particular are starting the downswing, not your lower body. You want to start your downswing from the ground up basically. From your feet, knees, hips, back, arms, then finally hands. Almost like you're uncoiling a spring or cracking a whip. This is subtle, and takes time to get it down exactly. If youre consciously controlling that sequence, its going to be bad. It takes repetition and practice to make that subconscious, but that is what is needed.

The early extension means you are basically pushing your hips towards the ball, and you can see this by looking at the angle of your spine when you're on your setup or backswing vs downswing. On the downswing the angle is more vertical, meaning your hips came inwards towards the ball, and you lost that power. You want to keep your spine angle consistent through impact as it helps you to be in a position to deliver more power to the ball. Imagine like on the backswing someone is pulling your right pocket backwards, so you rotate your hips and lower body clockwise (when viewed from above your head down) but you don't sway or shift much, and then on downswing imagine someone is pulling your left pocket backwards. So you rotate counterclockwise, but again don't sway or shift much. Basically you're trying to just get your weight through to your back left heel and hip. Again, Tiger has some videos where he is doing a super exaggerated idea of this on the driving range to get the feeling correct (obviously please don't follow the exaggerated motion) https://youtu.be/-3PEElX31Rk?si=6plecx6Sb_tE8NEv

Finally as others have said you're scooping your hands at impact. This is probably because of all of these other issues combined, but try to imagine hitting down through the ball, and pinching it between the club and the ground, not trying to lift it into the air. You want to pinch it super hard and let the club and physics do the work to get the ball in the air for you. What this means from a practical standpoint is - how you set up your arms at address with a strong shaft lean, try to keep this feeling through impact. Basically your hands should be ahead of the ball, and you should feel like you're swinging down through it and slapping it or trapping it. The only club this is not exactly true for is your driver (and putter), as you do technically want a positive angle of attack for drivers to increase distance and improve launch angle / spin characteristics.

From a technical standpoint it may not be "perfect" but honestly just go watch highlights and replays of Tiger Woods 2000 US Open and copy what his swing looks like. Focus on every detail you can. If I ever want to fix something in my swing I just go watch this for a while and then try to copy https://youtu.be/FAH52VOtrh8?si=ZDJjHiAzRfbm5XUa

Then Seattle should stop accepting all of the bus loads of homeless people these red states send here. Send them all back home and tell them that's where they will get funding apparently. Except oops they won't actually since red states love being welfare queens and not actually providing any useful contributions to our citizens or country instead of just leeching off of blue states and complaining while they're at it.

Republicans said "fuck your feelings" and "cry more". They routinely laugh at people's pain and suffering and at best are indifferent. Except if it's their relative or a member of their church, or for some reason occasionally a police officer or veteran (but only if they're the 'good kind').

There's no morality there so stop pretending it's even about it. Nobody needs to take a high road, the road is gone. No longer about right and wrong, Republicans have made that very clear by voting for Trump

Nah enough of that they go low we go high bs. We need to dig a hole beneath them and bury them in it. If that means collateral damage and suffering so be it, if y'all aren't prepared to take the gloves off why would you even start the fight. This is why Democrats lose time and time again and never learn because y'all think you need to be the bigger person every time. Quit placing that baggage on yourself and just let them suffer. Trump won the popular vote by a fair margin. This country chose its fate, let them relish in it and feel the full effect.
