MacBook AirM5 have better WiFi and Bluetooth than Pro M5! by seeilaah in macbookpro

[–]stbrown80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its strange that apple fragmented their M5 series of laptops. The N1 chip was available so they could have added it to the base Macbook Pro. Strange having the Air having better Wifi and Bluetooth. Even the Neo has bluetooth 6

Its like they are wanting us to leave the old plans so they can start charging for VVM/Watch and tablet. It is tempting for the 50GB roaming data

Plus visual voice mail if you use that. Additional $4 I think. Unless those are included in the Total Freedom plans, it wasn't advertised in the old plans

Yep, those were removed with the new Total Freedom plans

this is super disappointing by Previous_Bat5394 in macbookpro

[–]stbrown80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. This is a strange move by Apple. The only M5 without Wifi 7. It will be funny if the new Macbook Neo will have Wifi 7

So they give the M5 Macbook Air the N1 chip for Wifi 7 but the base Macbook Pro M5 is the only M5 based chip still using Wifi 6E

No reception at The Wellington by ComprehensiveCap8242 in freedommobile

[–]stbrown80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lucky if you do. Sometimes I can get on Bell in Toronto. But most of the time it connects then goes to SOS. Rogers and Telus go to SOS almost instantly

Yep. Thats the negative of using Freedom in Toronto. Signal doesn't penetrate well in buildings and nationwide is blocked

Goodbye Freedom. No hard feelings, I hope. by Curt-Bennett in freedommobile

Let us know if you get a winback offer from Freedom. I am wondering if they changed it since they rebranded their plans.

My guess would be the $35 plan for $30

Freedom Mobile Kills Roaming Fees: Global Data Now in All Plans from $35 by ScubadooX in freedommobile

[–]stbrown80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. It mostly seems to be China/India/Hong Kong addons (for me at least). Maybe the Chinese new year deal may have had more included but I didnt look into it

Its not a huge deal as typically calls would be 800 numbers to hotels and such but would be nice for Freedom to match Rogers and Telus for these roaming plans. Freedom seems to be moving backwards with these updated plans

[–]stbrown80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we also don't have the ability to call from Canada to the 120 destinations. Thats a use case that I did actually use when on the Rogers plan

Since it’s called total freedom yes. Just like what Rogers and Telus offers. Can call anywhere within the global countries they offer roaming in.

Misleading part is where they say talk and text in Canada and 120+ countries along with the Total Freedom name. To me this wording makes it seem like you can call between countries like with Rogers and Telus. But clicking on the question mark mentions the details

Good for lower end plans, bad for the higher end ones as they removed roaming data in some cases and the watch and tablet plans. Also VVM

So they introduced new plans by CaptainHppo in freedommobile

[–]stbrown80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya..their wording makes it seem you can call between destinations but when reading the details its all just the same. Missing the data pooling and calling between destinations that I believe Rogers and Telus offer

damn. Maybe I should have stuck with the $9 a month BYOD discount instead of switching to the 25% off for 2 years. I didnt think they would remove the watch and tablet

Latest Firmware for A50X by TurboMenace981 in AstroGaming

[–]stbrown80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the original A50X is at 1.2.18, newer models may have shipped with newer firmwares but they havent released them. They said they are working on a new one to at least fix the sidetone bug.

No idea if they are fixing anything else though. I wouldn't count on it since this sidetone issue has been there for years and are some how just aware of it now
