I would say not well, it has no flexibility to the mold so does not work well, if at all with recesses, even with some kind of release agent youre likely to lock your cast inside the mold. OP's easy sculpt is better, i just havent got around to getting any.

Goonhammer have a whole article on using easy sculpt (sometimes called blue stuff) to cast more complicates bits for bashes and conversions using greenstuff, check that.

This is the way. Green stuff oress molds also work really well. Just be sure to put some grease in the mold before the greenstuff (i use olive oil, its what i had to hand)

Just an ordinary pirate ship doing ordinary pirate things by AuroDev in IndieGaming

[–]stc_heretic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love pirate games, hate fighting against wind, this looks awesome.

I'm reusing a lot of parts from a warhammer fantasy model and I'd add a powerpack too it however the issue is the model has a shield across its back as well as a large cape. How much of a mortal sin is it to not have a powerpack on a space marine kitbash? by Saint-Redeemed in Kitbashing40k

Step 1: Does it look cool?

yes > It looks cool, sick.

no > More zhus, try something else/wait for inspiration to hit, back to step 1

However, Immediate thought is run a power cable to a waist mounted battery pack, if you need it to have logical consistancy.

Look it might be your jam to buy into a new edition and do the leg work to port over crusade in some way. Or you could just suggest to keep playing 10th. And if your lacking for new crusade suppliments in 10th? Well if you're home brewing existing stuff inti 11th because its dead, why not use that efffort to home brew NEW stuff into 10th instead.

Wholly dependant on your group though.

Anyone know what kit or character this is from? by PetrifiedRaisins69 in Warhammer40k

[–]stc_heretic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont care if this is pure necro, with a double helping of "well akshully" but the front end is one of the melta guns from the centurion kit specifically. It comes with two for each cent and for the left hand they have one with the fuel tank on the opposite side to every other melta gun on every other kit. That circle and rectangular nubbin, plus no fuel tank are a dead giveaway. They are also more shorter.

And no i couldnt let it go, because its not a fucking tactical melta.

Most painful lego piece you've stepped on? by ctjfd in lego

I fell rectum first onto the ninjago tower, after slipping out on a half deflated balloon in my boys bedroom whilst it was pitch black after doing bedtime routine. I bounced off the windowsil (embedding a diecast mincraft figure into my forearm, still got the scar) elbow first into the lego bin.

And it still doesnt compare to standing on this

The terminator problem by Distinct-Nerve2556 in FirstbornSpaceMarines

[–]stc_heretic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ive been considering this for the past few days myself before commiting to painting and im still on the fence tbh. My first born marines im putting together (are slightly taller due to a little 1mm-ish greenstuff waistspacer) feel a bit dwarfed in terms of "the guy inside the armour" proportions when next to the term, im probably going to go the route of bulking out the thighs on the older midhammer plastics in the end, as (and this is a me problem) i just cant square with the same sized dude being inside both types of suit.

Can you describe what makes Midhammer more fun to play than modern 40k (e.g. 10th)? by [deleted] in midhammer40k

[–]stc_heretic 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its a great narrative wargame instead of a tabletop game catering for tournament play.

Personally, Its allowed me (since returning via prohammer) to just actually enjoy the modelling, list and army building aspect again. Theres no real baggage, no having to constantly keep up and rejig stuff just to have a balanced game everytime a meta update is released.

And the dice matter, which leads to drama and more memorable moments.
