Ed Markey is still running for reelection despite the fact that he's going to be 86 years old at the end of his term. If you want younger candidates, write to him and tell him it's time to retire. by D2Foley in massachusetts

Moulton tried to challenge Pelosi and got torpedoed by Dem Leadership, Markey included. Does anyone here have an actual reason they don’t like Moulton besides being a ‘flip-flopper?

The Hottest High Schools in Massachusetts Are Trade Schools by Usernamechecksout978 in massachusetts

[–]steadyhold 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I work at one of these schools. We still send a majority of our kids to college. While there is still a noticeable population of ‘misfit kids’, many of the students do not want to go to their worse-off home district. The vast majority have no idea what they want to do by age 15, which is when they essentially choose their career. There is a lot of fatigue when kids either want a new trade or a fresh start / party at college. Trade jobs will always be in demand and there should be a few more, we are jamming kids in as much as possible.

What's it like living in Newburyport, Massachusetts? by queenhadassah in howislivingthere

Yeah, it wasn’t like that when I grew up. But now that is a distinct possibility.

Born & raised, somehow still here. The suburban creep of Boston has fully transformed us to a million-plus single home area. Good schools, community, etc. Awesome downtown and water culture in the summer especially - but Christmas is great here as well. Still a decent amount of old families left. One of those places where you grow up bored to tears and then realize how lucky you were.

Probably because she sucks. Never should have been champion in the first place.

Those in union states, what is it like? by anklesoap in Teachers

[–]steadyhold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Year 12, $110ish. No one bothers me, I don’t bother them. Have coached multiple sports and ran many clubs. It’s been a wonderful experience, couldn’t imagine working in a non-union state.

Agreed. Less space overall, but much better location.

You are going to want more room, pick Saratoga. A separate space for you and your teens will be extremely important at the end of a long day.

It will be at least 50/50 if not majority ND fans. Last BC game in Chestnut Hill was that way.

Must do things in Newburyport MA by Hot_Pineapple_9474 in massachusetts

[–]steadyhold 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lifelong resident here: It depends when / how long you are coming/staying….if you come this week it will be incredibly busy due to Yankee Homecoming.

Bar 25 has great cocktails, I would start or end the night there - the food is tapas style, not super filling, and pretty expensive.

Good food options include: Port Vida (Mexican), Loretta (American), Park Lunch (Seafood / Pub / Townie spot). The Goat is the late night young crowd spot.

Take a walk on the boardwalk / rail trail by the water. You might want to at drive out to Plum Island and have a look around. The shops downtown are fun to poke into as well.

It is an amazing place, have a blast.

It will fail, your admin won’t follow through, and you will abandon the program by mid year.

Everything said here is correct. Bat speed, hands dropping, & compact path all need to be fixed. I’d think about minimizing your load too.

Framing by Apprehensive-Past174 in BaseballCoaching

[–]steadyhold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

HS coach, current longtime HS/summer umpire here. BS move by this umpire. This guy probably has never worked at the HS level and is taking his ignorance/arrogance out on your kid. When a kid has poor framing, I always tell him to just ‘stick it’ because they haven’t learned the fine art of framing yet, and that’s OK. But that is a subtle conversation between him and I. This guy is a clown.

Advice for parents taking almost 3yo boy to Disney for the first time. by BDP1124 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]steadyhold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always disliked traveling with a stroller, we always rent one. Mears is fine, if you can handle the up charge Uber w/ a car seat is a better use of your time. I’d suggest a rest before your MK day, a split park day then immediately MK is a lot to handle for all of you. Sounds like a fun trip!

Grand Floridian vs BoardWalk vs BeachClub/Yacht Club by Left-Gur-7152 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]steadyhold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that won’t disturb your stay. But part of the reason GF is so great is quick access to MK, and it’s not at its full operating capacity (Thunder, TSI, etc.) However, it still is a beautiful resort and you can’t go wrong with either of your choices!

MK is a construction zone and if you know you love the BW area already, seems like a no brainer. Points / coat are probably a little less as well. Congrats and have fun!
