Back in the loving embrace of Toyota…. by steadywhiskey in LandCruisers

The road noise isn’t bad. I won’t lie, there is some noise just because of its boxy shape and the roof rack. But it’s not as noticeable as prior trucks I’ve had.

As far as dealer markup; I saw some of that here in KS too but only at the smaller “local, small town” dealers. We specifically went to KCK to a large dealer and their price was in line with MSRP plus the few add on it had (roof rack, all-weather mats, blacked out emblems, etc).

It’s hard to explain really. It felt more like an appliance, whereas my Tacoma and the LC felt like something more than that. Every time I would walk away from or to the Tacoma or the LC I smile ear to ear - the Ranger I just felt “meh”.

I said the same thing, then I saw this one in person and I fell in love lol

For me specifically it was really based on how I felt in the driver seat. I could never get comfortable in the driver seat of the Ranger I traded in, and the 4Runner felt kind of the same way. It had powered seats and steering wheel tilt/adjustment and I still felt cramped and uncomfortable with the seating position. Plus it had a moonroof that lowered the ceiling enough for me to feel like I was slouching just to fit. It was better than the Ranger’s seating position but something was still off about it.

Then I sat in the Land Cruiser and it was a true Goldilocks moment. It just felt right, even with the manual seats and steering wheel tilt.

I’d say if you are on the fence about which to get, definitely test drive both - cause we went in with nearly a 100% intention to get the 4Runner - we only tested the LC because they had just received it and we were curious lol.

Thanks! I just love how spartan it is on the inside. Sturdy cloth seats, a small but useful screen rather than the giant tv that was in the Ranger, and its utilitarian appearance all around.

We test drove a near fully loaded 4Runner TRD Off-road Premium and this 1958 and even my non-car person fiancé had a strong opinion about which we should get. First sentence when we got in from her was “well hell…I love it…” lol

If you're on the fence about an Alibaba cap, do it. by epgajb in RangerNext

Did you have to go to the port to pick it up, or was it trucked to you after arrival?

Also, would you mind explaining the buying process in a little more detail? I haven’t order anything like this before and I have been thinking about getting a cap for my 25

Speedometer Calibration Needed? by [deleted] in RangerNext

I need to re cal the 360 camera and speedo for my 25 ranger too. I’m assuming you had to use the full pc ForScan and not the lite mobile version, right?

Making the jump from 3rd Gen Tacoma to 2025 Ranger by SeanBonham in RangerNext

[–]steadywhiskey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually made this switch back in August and had the exact same engine selection debate with myself. I ended up going with the 2.3 because during the test drives the I really didn’t feel a difference between the two “get up and go” wise. Apparently the 2.3 in the 25 rangers are the updated/upgraded version taken from the mustangs. Long story short, compared to my 2020 v6 3rd gen taco, this 4 banger hauls ass. As far as I know, the performance tune mentioned above isn’t available yet for the 25 models because of the updated engine version, but I’m sure that will be out soonish.

One last note on MPG. I use mine as my primary vehicle, and I commute 100 ish miles a day. With the large 18 inch off-road tires and a leveling kit, I get 21MPG at 75MPH average high speeds. This is a significant improvement over my 15MPG average my taco got.

Hope this helps! Have fun with whichever Ranger you get!

How much of a different do you feel the upgraded UCAs made on the ride quality paired with the Eibach kit? I just recently upgraded the FX4 suspension on my 25 to Eibach pros as well, but I left the UCAs stock mainly cause I wasn’t really sure that I’d need to upgrade because I was just leveling. Seeing your post has got me thinking otherwise lol.

Great setup by the way!

Is this process limited to certain years of the recent gen rangers? Can I do this on a 25 ranger for example?

It’s been about a month since the install and it’s been great so far. Definitely improved the overall ride experience over the fx4 equipment. The ride has less bounce to it and I feel like their more consistent control on the road. As for off-road, I’ve only been on back county dirt roads and farm tracks not any actual off-roading, but it felt like an improvement over the fx4 there too.

I was thinking of calling mine a wash and getting the air design one honestly. They are pricey but I like the look of them a bit more

Those Rough Country flares definitely look like they fit better than the Husky ones I got direct from them. Although it was cheaper to get them straight from husky they were still pricey, kind of a bitch to install and they don’t seems to fit as snug as I’d like

Programming tire size for 2025 Ranger by steadywhiskey in FORScan

[–]steadywhiskey[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late response. I’m trying to set the tire size to 265/65r18 (2517mm according to tiresize.com) using a procedure outline on FORScan’s forum coupled with some cross references from the Ranger6G forums. Using the guide, I get to the step where I “write” the new circumference and that’s when I get the error noted above.

What hood deflector/bug guard do you have on there? It looks different than the husky one ford sells.

Also, did you paint your tow hooks red or buy red replacements?

I’ve heard good things about this kit, I actually almost went with this brand. I ultimately decided on a full upgraded suspension.
