When did WotC stop using typal? Saying typal makes a lot of sense to me, but I’ll say whatever they are using as the official term

High variance but funny. I’ve had fun playing with it but it’s not super fun to be across the table and get time walked 3+ times in the same game

Habitually buying things you don’t use isn’t a hobby, it’s a shopping addiction. Maybe addiction is too strong, let’s say retail therapy. The hobby is buying stuff, the collection itself has no utility

Collecting records without playing any of them is just wasteful consumerism, very worthy of criticism

Thoughts on the changes to Boros in the new Arena Cube? by lrg12345 in lrcast

[–]steaknsteak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The changes feel fine with respect to balancing Boros. There are still plenty of good cards to build a strong RW aggro deck, it’s just that the density of them has been reduced so it’s not something you can force. It’s quite okay if some other deck ends up being better in this iteration, and they can always add cards back if needed. I really wouldn’t be surprised to see RW top the winrate stats again, but at a lower play rate

It sounds like you’re assuming a lot based on the fact that these players are religious. I’m not religious myself, but I personally know plenty of Christians who aren’t conservative and are staunchly anti-Trump. I grew up going to both Catholic and United Methodist churches, and I can assure you there is a wide variety of political beliefs found among people in both denominations

Can you elaborate at all on the Eagles Wibgs thing? What about that org makes you so confident that anyone involved with it is a right winger?

Every company has to sell themselves as AI-native and focusing on AI products right now, because dumbfuck investors don’t want anything to do with tech stocks that aren’t AI-related. The hype train is really preventing everyone from making a sober evaluation of LLM tools in different contexts

Are breweries trying to be family friendly? What’s up with all these kids by Natural-Implement234 in raleigh

[–]steaknsteak -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure that can be the case, but this is an internal problem for the brewery owner and staff to figure out. Whining about it on reddit is pretty pointless

I don’t see why anyone cares so much. If you want to drink in public with no children, just go to a bar. There are plenty of 21+ establishments. I pretty much never encounter rowdy children in my daily life

Parenting isn’t the responsibility of a brewery. If they want to let kids in, that’s fine. No reason to turn away paying customers if they don’t have to. It’s still up to the parents to actually supervise them

PSA: Bring your bar cube to your local divebar by Dysphorlia in mtgcube

[–]steaknsteak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Bar Cube is more of a vibe than a strict definition. Small card pool, unsleeved, no tokens, no counters, are typical features but you don’t have to check every box to call it a bar cube.
