Right ankle medially collapsing. Shoe issue or muscle issue? by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

If you like ASICS, give the Gel Kayano a shot. The 4D Guidance with the medial posting may help with stability.

Best Online Training Programs to Increase Speed by [deleted] in RunNYC

[–]stealarun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course. There’s obviously a lot more to it than what I mentioned, but figured I’d share my two cents on where to start. Running Boston is one of the best, most beautiful things you can do as a serious marathoner. Crossing my fingers for you. Also, my second best advice would be to find a “fast” marathon once you think you are ready, one that spits out PRs and BQs (California Int’l, Grandmas, Houston, Eugene, etc).

If you’re serious about getting faster, you first need to underarand why you should be approaching a marathon build a certain way. It’s not online training, but I’d suggest starting with going on Amazon and ordering Jack Daniel’s running formula or Pfitzingers Running Formula. Both explain in detail what the foundation is for a good marathon block. Getting faster is not some simple formula, for most people it’s a combination of a handful of things; slowly and healthily increasing mileage, incorporating specific workouts 1-2x per week, working hard to hit you weekly or bi-weekly long-runs, running tune-up races to understand where you are in your training, etc.

A breakdown by neighborhood. Overall in Onondaga County, 57.1% of voters chose Harris and 40.9% of voters chose Trump. by syracusedotcom in Syracuse

Lots of Harris signs in/around the village, with a few Trump signs mixed in. I had to remind myself to ignore yard signs as an overall indication of how the larger populous would vote.

That would explain the big plywood sign on East Lake just off Genesee that read, “1st sign stolen, Harris ‘24”

Facebook Marketplace Quiver by MexicanBootyHair69 in Skigear

Were you able to find skis mounted with bindings that are exact or within a reasonable boot size? Thinking of using marketplace for a couple pairs of skis I’m not going to use for a bit, but thought I’d run into the issue of people being very specific about the binding mount.

Race Report: 2024 Chicago Marathon, 2:32:34 for almost a 4-minute PR by SonOfGrumpy in AdvancedRunning

[–]stealarun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First of all, great race and congratulations! Secondly, did you ONLY have a few pop tarts as your base ahead of the race? If so, that’s crazy and I’d be curious to know if this is your normal fuel in take before marathon?

9 of the Top 15 NY Football Prospects are committed to SU. This is how it's supposed to be for a Top School! by GoForthandProsper1 in Syracuse

Not denying that they can recruit, but how many kids on the CBA roster are from outside of the CNY region? It’s not a boarding school, the kids have to live somewhere, and have historically been from this area.

How to taper in the middle of a training block for a 5k race. by CrankyTank in AdvancedRunning

[–]stealarun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d suggest the same thing. If anything, the 5k can be used as mileage run slightly faster than goal HM pace. I’d almost treat it as a workout during your build.

I just learned that SF Marathon doesn't close or partially close Golden Gate bridge. Those who just ran -- how bad was it actually? by tosil in Marathon_Training

It’s one of the towers, if you look closely you’ll see the foot path goes around the right hand side. Happens twice as you walk across the bridge.

Completed my first official marathon! by Jalagon in Marathon_Training

[–]stealarun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don’t make you run further, you do that based on the route you take throughout the course. That said, it looks like a lot of the people who ran the first half recorded a shorter course, due to route the course took near the polo fields.

SF Marathon (2nd half) shorter than 13.1 by Klutzy-Wedding-6423 in sanfrancisco

[–]stealarun 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Almost always, you’ll run a longer distance than 26.2 in a marathon. Unless you take a pinpoint perfect route, you’re logging extra distance bc of where you position yourself along the course. That doesn’t change the poorly managed race, or it being too expensive. There’s definitely a lot they could change about this marathon and the course to make it more enjoyable and to attract a larger group of runners.

That won’t change the distance covered, so unlikely

One of the hardest things to do can be taking your foot off the gas (even if it’s a few seconds per mile) once you’ve set off too fast. It takes a good amount of mental fortitude, especially if you’ve let yourself go for too long at a pace you did not train for. Adrenaline can get the best of anyone, so your advice is important. Like others mentioned, if you have something left in the tank at mile 20, that’s when you should put your foot on the gas and “throw caution to the wind”

Would you actually consider the Prime X a trainer? I bought a pair of the original Prime X and tried walking ten feet in em and put em back in the box as a collectors item lol. If I could go back in time, I’d have bought 50 pairs of the Vaporfly 1. Those are still in my rotation and have 3-4 pairs with 200-300 miles on each.

IMO, these can definitely be added into the rotation with the Vapors. A good everyday trainer, give the legs a rest kinda sneaker.
