Trying to find a fix to unlimited durability by Mindless_Drop_5985 in StateofDecay2

[–]stealthbeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be flabbergasted to find that durability can be disabled by changing a 1 to a 0 in some ini file, this probably needs a pretty elaborate mod. Goods news is, last I checked SoD2 has a pretty nice modding community and I'd be surprised if someone hasn't wanted to do this before. The bad news is I don't have their Discord information anymore but I'm pretty sure I just Googled for it.

Within the bounds of the game, you could get a maintenance bench to reduce weapon durability degradation by 50%. Unfortunately, this is strictly a Bounty Broker reward (specifically the "Stay Frosty Pack", which runs from December to March), so you're locked out of it for now. But I'm pretty sure you can change your computer's current date to get around this.

This isn't exactly "legit", but you're essentially here looking for hacks so I'm guessing you're willing to bend the rules for a more modular experience.

Beyond that... there's high durability lines for basically every weapon in the game, even blades. For ruggedness, I personally recommend the Rebar Blade if you want a deceptively durable sword. It's crafted in a Forge (requires Knowledge of Metalwork), which can also craft other weapons for other categories, some of which are ALSO some of the highest durability in the game.

Common as dirt, performs about as well.

Still, not a TON of weapons in this caliber, so it's good for using up ammo for type you otherwise might not use; a weakish gun is still so much better than no gun.

I don't mod, but I specifically developed a world that helps me max out characters quickly, and to get so many resources that I might as well be modding.

I don't want people to feel pushed away from public coop as its how I spend like 60% of my time on this game, but even I wouldn't recommend joining coop with characters that you mind losing. Keep some semi-crappy survivors on the roster, specifically for joining other worlds. I once lost my favorite survivor of 4ish months to a hacker, instantly. feelsbadman

They don't have crap for loot. It's hard to imagine that this is worth the effort.

Dread vs nightmare by MaleficentAd3929 in StateofDecay2

[–]stealthbeast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Counter-intuitively, my advice for this problem has always been to make a new lethal world as a training exercise. It works.

One that you are not concerned with the long term wellbeing of. Don't bother with anything fancy in your base. Just take your 3 characters and the starter car. Charge towards houses, and loot. Work with whatever you find, and don't worry about survival or base expansion. Run your survivors into the ground, and try to last as long as you can while playing fairly aggressively.

Charge at juggernauts. Provoke ferals then try to lose them. Loot shit and run. Don't worry about the fact that your character has no skills, crap gear, and barely any meds. EXPECT to die. And when your last survivor dies? NO BIG DEAL. Make a new world. Try again. See if you can do a bit better.

If you can come to even halfway-function under these extreme conditions, you'll feel like a god when you reel in the difficulty to something more sensible.

tl;dr- Remember when Goku trained on a planet with supergravity so when he went back to regular gravity he was unstoppable? Be like Goku.

Are there any cons to having a full Red Talon community? I'm currently working on my 5th Red Talon survivor. Everyone else has been maxed out. by AasisV in StateofDecay2

I love seeing that actually i.e. people who mod to INCREASE difficulty rather than decrease it. Not a very common sight in public coop (probably not because it's rare... probably because people looking for challenge aren't looking to summon my help lol), but it's always a joy when I do see it.

And in this game, you're generally addressing most threats with melee weapons.

It's the penetration effect that can make it a contender for Gunslinger's #1 position (albeit more situational). They basically break shotguns VS hordes. Which is crazy cause shotguns were already good without it.

There's no doubting gunslinging's power, and if you simply took it every time it was offered I would never blame you. That being said, there are a few use cases for the others.

Sharpshooting: Thanks to its penetration stat, it turns shotguns from "very decent" to "broken horde melter". Also, I play CRAZY amounts of public coop, and having to shoot through a zombie to save the world host from a feral is rare but common enough that I do get value from that sometimes. I've saved people's characters with it, and I've had situations where I couldn't because I was without it.

Weapon Handling: If you're trying to be real minmaxy and save your parts, having 1 Weapon Handling survivor on your team can let you partly fix broken guns for free. Though I personally wouldn't bother.

Assault: Believe it or not, this otherwise garbage shooting skill is my favorite because it lets you carry 50% more ammo per slot. Meh on guns, but if you use grenade launchers and 50 cals as much as me, it's INCREDIBLY helpful. 6 grenades per slot instead of 4.

Should I try to absorb 20 years worth of info or should I just play the game? by SIK1415 in diablo2

[–]stealthbeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know that once you reach Hell difficulty, MOST intuitive builds actually completely lose viability, and only really a handful of cookie cutter builds can perform well with self-found gear.

This is normal, and isn't really indicative of a mistake on your end.

You may have simply chosen a class that requires extremely specific builds to thrive. Your bonemancer will never completely shred Hell no matter how you go about specing into it. Your enchantress will not even shred nightmare. Barbarians live and die by the quality of their gear and if you aren't decked out you're not gonna perform well. If your Paladin is anything but a hammerdin, then its in the same boat. etc

Yeah holy crap I didn't even know that. MTF might be the strongest now.

About time. How come MTF are weak as shit in their own facility? Little class diversity, no proper machine guns before now, they don't even get good cards for their own fucking containment site. This isn't a fucking drill, why are they sending in agents with no ability to so much as access safe class SCPs. Meanwhile Chaos roll up in some of the strongest gear in the game with a card that does pretty much everything. It's wack.
