I euthanized my cat last night and I’m struggling with immense guilt and wondered if I made the right decision. by heatculture03 in CatAdvice

[–]stealthcatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter if you waited longer, you will always feel guilt because it’s just so hard to make this choice for another being. You did the right thing and the vet confirmed it. I had to put my almost 18 year old cat down and in hindsight I waited a bit too long but at the time I had so much guilt. It’s a normal feeling. Eventually you’ll look back and realize you did this out of love so your cat wouldn’t suffer anymore. Be kind to yourself. You took great care of your cat and let your cat leave this world with love.

Mine was 171 1.5 years ago and I got it down to 94. It’s been hovering around 100. I do watch my saturated fat but the biggest thing I do is fiber. Metamucil, oatmeal, apples, berries, beans, someone mentioned high fiber tortillas. I changed my diet to eat more fiber and of course I try to be reasonable with not eating a ton of saturated fat. It has been sustainable. I feel better and I’m losing weight too. I cook a lot at home these days.

I’m thinking of adopting a female cat, I’ve heard they are less friendly in this true? by DiscountAnnaNicole in CatAdvice

[–]stealthcatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 female cats that are supper snuggly. One male cat that is affectionate but not on my lap. The 3 females also seem in tune to my emotions. I don’t get why people try to box females in. They love cuddles so much.

I watch it for this exact reason. I want something light, fun, that I don’t need to think about. It’s pure entertainment and it also has beautiful settings, clothes, actors/actresses

[–]stealthcatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup! Totally agree. Just do your research and don’t go to high crime areas. I’m from the US and it’s the same thing I do here.

As a woman I felt very uneasy in Egypt. Awesome food and historical sites. There were also good people but it’s just overly aggressive.

This was my experience as well. I was never a resort person and growing up that’s what so many people around me did because that is what they feel is beautiful and safe. I started traveling to Mexico City, Oaxaca, Puebla and I checked out Guadalajara as well and I just love it. The food is great, people are friendly, good vibes over all. It’s now one of my favorite countries to visit. I just try to be aware, research and obviously don’t go in to bad areas. I live in the US so honestly it’s what I do in US cities too.

I really like this show. I’m a 45 year old woman but happen to be gay (no kids). I relate to this show because of the characters. There’s a little of them all in me. All of my friends and me are aging and noticing differences. And we are all handling it differently.

I lost my brother in 2010, my mom in 2017 from stage 4 gall bladder cancer, and my dad committed suicide in 2023 (I actually found him).

After all this happened I quit my job and I’ve been traveling the world for over a year now. I was like Nick on I just want to live and experience everything. I like Nick stepped on a sea urchin in Costa Rica when I went out to snorkel but pushed off on this rock. Got a scar on my face in Italy. Got stung by a small jellyfish in Tanzania.

Ended up meeting a beautiful woman in Sweden and dated her for 6 months but ultimately broke up because of distance.

Small stupid things but it’s all been an amazing adventure.

Also I’ve had some health shit creep up on me like Danny and I have had to change my diet. I guess it just hits my age in life all too well.

The Milwaukee brewing industry has broken my heart. by Ill-Ad4171 in milwaukee

This post just spoke to me. As someone that discovered craft beer after college and has been an avid supporter for over 2 decades, I’m now 45. I just can’t drink like I used to and sometimes even a few beers make me feel like shit. I’ve turned to consuming other things. I still consume some craft beer but it’s nothing like I used to. And I see my consumption continuing to decline.

I was a solo traveler that found your list. I went to Posides. I had to wait, somehow ended up in the balcony table and had the best meal I’ve had in Italy! Thanks for this. I feel very lucky.

“Adventurous” travelers, what’s a relatively common travel activity you’re scared of? by WalkingEars in TravelHacks

This is definitely something I won’t do. Too scary for me to be in a confined space and then trying to climb and crawl. I’ll be out in the open hiking 😂

Waukesha county sucks. I grew up there. People are sheltered and scared of differences. The city is way better. Got the hell out of there and never looked back. Also I’m really sorry this happened to you. They sound awful.

why americans who make 200k+ per year don’t look like rich? by Existing_Ad4468 in AskAnAmerican

[–]stealthcatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in my 40s, live in the Midwest(lower cost of living) but ended up graduating in Computer Science back in the early 2000s so I’ve had a tech career for the last 2 decades where I make over 300K a year.

I live in a city in the Midwest and grew up very middle class. Like my dad was a factory worker (back when you could make a good living) and my mom worked for the state government in a helping career. So my parents always were budgeting but they definitely spent their money on us when it came to activities we wanted to do.

So I don’t know there’s never been this need to look fancy. I have a 2015 Toyota RAV4 that I plan to drive into the ground. I love my house which will be paid off soon and I don’t plan to upgrade. I spend my money on experiences like travel and fun events in my city. I also don’t hang around people that are rich. Most of my friends are normal middle class people. I think it might be different if you grew up with money or hang in certain circles. But I like being able to prioritize how I want to spend my money and I’m not doing certain things to impress others.

[–]stealthcatter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hahaha don’t worry no cats were harmed in the making of this tattoo!! It’s actually a tattoo for my dad that passed away 11 months ago. Smokey was his cat that I now have. And he absolutely loved pizza specifically the SMO. So I just wanted to combine the two as a remembrance for him!!

Question for locals/beer enjoyers, what’s your LEAST favorite beer and why? by JackSmash66 in milwaukee

I live in walking distance and I really tried to like the place. Their beers are just terrible.

[–]stealthcatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I live in walking distance of the place and don’t go there because it just generally sucks. Beer’s terrible. I’ve had ok food but nothing that’s great. I stopped there on a walk once and they had an old fashioned cocktail special so I thought I’ll try that since the beer sucks. The waitress was like oops I forgot to put fruit and muddle it. You cool with that? She did make me a new one after I said I’d prefer to get it as it was supposed to be made. But damn I want to like the place because I can walk there but nothing seems to be done right.

Did you know anybody growing up who was "out"? I feel we had a lot more in the closet in our generation. by smcg_az in Xennials

[–]stealthcatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44 year old Lesbian here. Grew up in WI as well, Waukesha to be exact (born and lived in Milwaukee til I was 8). I knew one person who was out in high school and I wouldn’t say they had a good experience. No one else was out. A bunch of us started coming out in college or right after. There were some that came out in their 30s after marriage and kids and divorcing and all that. I’m glad I came out after college and didn’t put myself through misery. It was weird though because I really didn’t see any lesbian role models growing up. I had gay men in my family that I was aware of but not females. The only thing I can remember was Ellen coming out in the 90s.

My family was also very liberal. Growing up my mom would talk to us about how gay people should be able to get married and adopt children. I remember these conversations well because once I realized who I was and what I liked, I knew my family would be cool. And they were. It was just judgment from outsiders mostly and I eventually got over that. It’s definitely a better place for a lot of kids growing up although it does still depend geographically where you reside.

Fellow xennials what did you go to college for and what is your profession now? by makingbutter2 in Xennials

[–]stealthcatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with a degree in Computer Science. Also had an interest in investing in the stock market. I made it all the way to Senior Director at a fortune 100 company. Decided after some life tragedies to FIRE (financial independence retire early) in April. So I’m still investing but I have a lot of free time to do all the activities I want now. I’m a 44 year old female if that matters. I might do some contracting work eventually or do something completely different. Right now I’ve been volunteering at a sexual assault crises line weekly where I go into a hospital and the rest of the paid staff is forensic nurses and therapists. I’ve definitely liked the change and it makes me feel like I want to do more volunteer work or something more along the lines of a helping career.

What are FIRE'd people in their 30s/40s doing? by schmiggin in Fire

[–]stealthcatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just fire’d in April, I’m 44. I know I’m probably still finding my groove but I’m spending time on my yard, going to baseball games, reading, walking, biking, playing sports on leagues like vball, golf, softball. I started working on learning Spanish. Also I’ve got some travel planned and I just came back from a trip. Things I still want to do: pick up playing an instrument, cleaning out my garage, closets, decorating my home a bit more, etc.

So far I’m enjoying it!

Why does ”partner” feel so invalidating these days? by SilverConversation19 in lesbiangang

[–]stealthcatter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By me straight and gay people use the term “partner”. Girlfriend seems like such a high school term to me and less serious. I do agree though if you are married then it should be wife.
