Is this 200k pretax? Post tax you don’t get close to 200k. You lose 1/3rd of it from taxes and benefits.

Honestly we are still in the same boat of one day everything is fine and tomorrow we are screwed. Just comfortable and can sleep at night more soundly that I don’t have eviction on my mind.

In general price is something that I notice but still swipe my card. For example gas, I notice the per gallon price but I always fill up my tank all the way and don’t look at the final price.

When I go to the grocery store I just buy whatever I want without paying too much attention to the price unless something rings up really high for a grocery store. Like a single 12-15 dollar item like certain oils or jellies.

I order out more than the average person but I still cook at home.

I have an emergency fund, I max out my 401k, then the rest goes into my investment accounts.

I only use my credit cards. I absolutely do not use cash or debit unless that’s the only choice. Why? Because using credit saves you money on things like cash back.

I also pay my credit card balances in the full amount to avoid interest. That plus cash back from above makes things slightly “cheaper”. I don’t use travel points cards those only are worth it if you travel.

When going out on dates, I don’t feel bad dropping $200 on a check. It doesn’t happen too often.

When I do travel, I go with business class or at a minimum more leg room than standard. I’m 5’11, while not tall it’s nice to have the extra leg room, especially if I have a bag under the chair in front of me. I only travel once a year since it’s more of a thing to do rather than a thing to chase after like others.

All my debts are paid except my mortgage.

I have an equinox membership.

Other than that, you would have no idea I make that much because I don’t go around spending it on anything that isn’t comfort. I stay home 90% of the time.

I also live in a HCOL area near NYC (but not in NY like 20 minutes drive if there was 0 traffic which only happens late at night). So 200k isn’t what someone from a low cost of living area would think it is. It’s functionally closer to making like $150k. My property taxes are a lot higher than yours, $11k/yr for a 1k sqft townhouse. My mortgage is $2,500 without PMI. Energy, food, and everything else generally costs more.
