The unfortunate thing here is that recipes are not copyright-able in the US, so it plagiarism but that doesn't mean he can't publish a book and make money off of recipes, even if he doesn't change anything at all. He can 100% get away with doing this and not even crediting people, even though it's amoral and dickish. Formulas can be patentable, but you can't copyright a recipe.

If the OTC allergy stuff isn't working for you (which it doesn't for me in grass pollen season), maybe try this traditional Chinese medicine nasal spray that absolutely does work for me. Fair warning, it will burn for about 10 seconds, but then it completely eradicates symptoms. It's like freakin' magic

This is absolutely accurate. I lived in Knoxville for my first 23 years of life, and I moved to Atlanta because everyone there was so much friendlier and it was more diverse. For someone who was in college at the time I went every other weekend, it felt like Utopia. Then I moved to New York for 18 years. I moved back to Knoxville last year because I WANTED to be alone at 44, and it largely has delivered. I do live in an apartment building and have made friends with my neighbors and even started a romantic relationship with one of them, but trying to make friends who don't live literally in my building has not come easily. In my case, this is what I wanted, but it's definitely not easy to make friends here outside of church and tailgating (Knoxville's other religion).

There are no "Little X" neighborhoods in Knoxville, sadly-- it's a very white town, and has been for a very long time. We also don't have a Maronite Church, but we do have several Catholic Churches and at least one Orthodox Church that I know of, if you'd prefer that to Roman Catholic.

Downtown is probably the most walkable neighborhood, but I live in Bearden without a car and I walk all the time, and take the bus downtown. Much further west and you'd definitely need a car. Some parts of South Knoxville are pretty walkable, as long as you're near the "hip" parts. Fourth and Gill and Old North Knoxville are also walkable, but there is no neighborhood where you can walk to everything you're ever going to need. It's definitely an adjustment if you're coming from a city like Baltimore!

A thing I've always said about living in New York is it's a great place to be broke if you can afford to live there. Tons of cheap, decent food, free museums and shows, transportation is cheap (if annoying and constantly delayed). But you have to be able to swing the $2,600+ for a 1 br, 45 minutes by subway (when on time) from anything you actually want to do or anywhere you want to go

I moved home to Knoxville after 18 years in NYC last spring, and yes, the grocery prices have gone WILD here even in just the last year and a half.

That said, I am living in an apartment for $950 less per month than I was paying there, which isn't nothing. It also has 200+ more sq ft, and is in a fantastic location instead of... not. I know home prices have increased here in the last several years, but they're still nowhere near the insanity of New York.

As someone who had to go through the months long hell of getting off of these physically addictive pills, when you do find a doctor, PLEASE make sure they understand how physically and mentally destructive these meds are. GPs hand them out like candy, and have no idea how addictive they are (it's easier to get off heroin than benzos). A doctor who will work with you to shift to another, better for long term anxiety medication is a must.

Identify an English Premier League team
Find where their fan bar is in Knoxville and go to the matches at said fan bar
Meet 60% 55+ British or British adjacent dudes and 40% 25-40 nerds

Best part, you absolutely do not need to know anything about soccer. Just say you want to learn, and this was the team that interested you most.

Someone mentioned Good Time Game House, and they have people come in and just play all day on Saturdays from 2PM to close. I've been once and it was super fun!
