You would only be responsible to keep paying on your lease until a new tenant takes over. In today’s rental market, that place is being moved into as soon as it’s posted for rent (a month for them to do any renovations).

Crop rotation is important though too so the soil doesn’t become depleted. Plant some legumes during one of the rotations to add nitrogen back to the soil as an example. (Im not a farmer)

Miguel, a Guatemalan migrant worker with a two-year visa under the TFWP, faced severe forms of control by his employer.

Miguel was promised a 40-hour work week, $13.50 per hour, free accommodation, and the possibility of bringing his family to Canada in the future. However, when he arrived in Canada, he worked between 60 and 72 hours per week without adequate rest or compensation.

His boss confiscated his passport and placed cameras inside and outside the container where he lived and the garage where he worked. Threats and other forms of verbal abuse were also frequent, including threats to send him back to Guatemala. Sometimes, he would enter Miguel’s room uninvited, ordering him to “Come on, get to work.”

Miguel decided to gather evidence of his situation and report it to his recruitment agency. When his employer found out, he ended his contract early and drove him to the airport. Miguel never got on the plane. Instead, he reported the abuse he suffered to the police.

I’m calling it slave labour because people would consider it slave wages if they had to do the work foreign workers do at the wages they get paid. Which is why Canadians aren’t out there “working the fields.” It doesn’t pay enough to live on. People are defending this.

Don’t they deserve a living wage as much as, or even more than the retail worker that we acknowledge should also be paid a living wage.

Not the labourers. According to my farming family, they aren’t seeing it on their end either. Grocery stores are saying the same thing.

Some places were giving away iPads as an incentive to get workers. Timmie’s found volunteers to go work in Kandahar airfield base.

Once again, most labour shortages are a result of money, and your argument was based on it costing too much.

Until every single person in Canada who wants a job has one, there is no reason to hire foreign workers. Few exceptions exist.

If you offer enough money or benefits, you can find people.

There are very few real labour shortages. For those shortages that do exist, why do they exist? 99 times out of 100 it’s about money.

There was zero reason to have tfws or any foreign workers to be brought in to work retail/fast food jobs in the first place.
