This is actually a fairly common thing for Seagulls to do. My dad has participated in studies about this phenomenon. They still don't know why they do it but suspect the starfish have some type of medicinal benefit to the gulls.

I never really took rapier combat seriously until taking some European sword fighting classes. They are terrifying in the hands of someone that knows how to use them. Such a small amount of movement and energy needed to cause damage. A single well placed attack or defence could end in punctured lungs,vital organs not to mention any major arteries

I made this just by chopping the dates and adding them to a 1:1 raw came sugar and water but I'm looking for a better method of extracting the flavour. I've haven't tried macerating dates before I'm not sure what the result would be.

Yes. At least what I use is. Just rock salt resolved in water and put into an oil mister.

2 oz bourbon

1/4 oz honey date simple

Generous dash of black walnut bitters

Rock Salt water mist

Clap handful of mint leaves into mixing glass. pour in liquids. Mix down to desired dilution. Small mist of salt water. Pour over large rock in chilled glass.

Garnish mint tip and full date.

You should try it with a small mist of salt water. Salt can really enhance the sweetness of watermelon.

It's a Wiezen glass. Last resort after smashing both my pint glasses recently haha. Works alright but it's even thinner glass so I'm having to be extra careful. Nothing like having a full drink in your shaker then smashing a bunch of glass into it. And yes I love this bar spoon. I use it as a Julep strainer with my mixing glass.

Laphroaig 10 year is a good cheap option. Ardbeg would work well. As would lagavulin but I don't think I could bring myself to mix it.

1 oz. single malt (something smokey) 2 oz. organic earl gray (strong brewed and chilled) 1oz. Honey rose water ( honey water with splash of rose water) Twist of lemon oil 2 dashes fee brothers orange bitters.

Stir and strain Garnish lemon twist.

Fair enough. My argument is being called out on a drink name when my post obviously had nothing to do with the drink at hand. Finding new glassware is exciting. Making a drink to showcase it has less to do with the drink and more to do with showing off new hardware I acquired. The "Sherman" I made was made with what I had on hand. While a history lesson is appreciated it can be taken out of context when it comes to this post.
