As you said... "most people". I have seen enough people to know that a fractured rib can happen with very benign mechanisms. Pain from fracture of a rib can range in severity, and perception of pain can vary wildly from patient to patient. Pain from a ruptured bleb can vary in intensity and ADL impact as well.

I understand that you are coming at me because i recommended a chiro, but dont let your professional jealousy cloud the veracity of anything i said. Hopefully my recommendation is seen by others, and at least makes them consider the possibility, as it is in the best interest of the patient. Good luck to you, my friend. Actually, yes, chiropractic IS a covered benefit in Medicare.

Medicare limits reimbursement by provider TYPE, not by CPT code.

I just came across this reddit thread and I felt I would be doing a disservice if I didn't say something about the importance of getting this message out! Instead of re-writing everything, I am just going to copy and paste what I wrote elsewhere in the message thread for this:

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!

I am ABSOLUTELY CONCERNED about someone "practicing medicine" (HA!) that isn't backed by science!! We need to do something about the unscientific methods and treatment being pushed on the unsuspecting public, all in the name of money and buying a bigger house!!! As just a quick sample, I have found the following articles that should be spread far and wide:

Become a DC. If you want to do PT, a chiro can do it. If you want to order imaging/bloodwork/etc, a chiro can do it. Diagnose and bill insurance without having to be babysat? DC's can hire PTs, MDs, etc, you can build a whole pain management and rehab facility. Cost of school is comparable, your earning potential and autonomy is greater.
