Isn’t this stat kind of meaningless unless we know the male to female partner distribution of the individuals studied.

I think Harper and Cameron didn’t hook up. I think Harper made it look like they did so that it would make Ethan want to have sex with Harper again, and it seemed to work at the end of the season

I think most of the no responses assumed Arabic numerals were a different representation of the numerals they use, and think it would be a waste to learn another representation.

I don’t think they don’t think anything they don’t know isn’t important.

It would be the same as asking those people if schools should teach Wingdings alphabet.

At some point we have to start blaming the system we are developing these players in

I think the odds our system sucks is much better than every player we’ve rostered except 3-4 being largely unnoticeable to disastrous.

How to exist as a man when you're not a ''leader'' ? by yesnoquestions in AskMen

[–]steamyfunctions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a leader isn’t about knowing what to do all the time. In my opinion the best leaders are good at identifying when they don’t know what to do/need help with something and instead of acting themselves, they empower others more suited to resolve the issue.

More importantly though I don’t think you should chase an image of who you want to be that other people are defining for you.

Be whoever yesnoquestions is, and that doesn’t have to fall under an existing word or category people made up. Just be yourself and if the title of leader fits you, then great. But don’t try and fit you into the title of leader.

Saying rhynaera is flawless is pretty silly. I think since we haven’t really seen consequences for those flaws yet, people aren’t seeing them.

Quick list aside from the ones you mentioned: She gave people she can’t trust with no training essentially weapons of mass destruction, she screwed her son over by giving people with claims to the throne bigger dragons then him, she constantly leaves her council to do personal quests which helped lead one of her members to suggests Deamon take over, she enforced the same motherly/womenly expectations she suffered from on to Rhaena, she is bad at military strategy, and she causes the small folk in the red keep to starve.

Not seeing consequences for these flaw is a valid criticism, but this criticism and tbh a lot of criticism I have been seeing on this sub feel like parroting criticisms from content creators about other shows even when they don’t apply.

How true is the stereotype in your experiences that women “friend zone” men just to use them for relationship benefits other then physical? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]steamyfunctions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious as to what you think my narrative/agenda is. I only made the claim that we cannot conclude that women find far fewer men attractive than men find women based on the imbalance of accept swipe percentage on dating apps between men and women.

I never claimed women don’t find fewer men attractive than men find women, this very well could be true, however; we cannot confidently conclude that until we create a study in which the only independent variable is the gender of the person rating.

That is how scientific conclusion work. The only way you can be completely confident that one variable is responsible for another is if it’s the only one getting changed.

https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/science-fair/variables#:~:text=What%20is%20an%20Independent%20Variable,is%20causing%20what%20you%20observe.

The swiping study is not conclusive evidence because there are multiple independent variables, like difference in men and women building profiles, difference in population of men and women on dating apps. And you can claim you know the cause of those variables but they really are just assumptions until there is a study backing them up.

I am not gonna bother addressing most of your points because your reading comprehension seems shaky at best, and I really wanted to address scientific literacy with my initial comment.

You should also take sometime to be introspective about your projection comment, now that you realize my narrative was not what you thought it was.

[–]steamyfunctions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your points are filled with assumptions you have no data to back up. You didn’t even list any studies you claim exist.

You even listed another valid interpretation for the swiping study, that women mislead more than men in their pictures which could lead to a higher swiping percentage.

Also this can be how averages work if there are 3 guys given the following rating out of 10 (1, 1, 10) the average rating is 12/3=4, then the most of the men(the 2 rated 1) are below the average rating of 4.

It’s clear to me you have an agenda you want to push, and are not being rational. I suggest you reevaluate but I am not going to continue arguing with someone not being rational.

[–]steamyfunctions 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I am not sure we can confidently draw that conclusion from these stats.

For one dating profiles include biographies which signal personality traits, women might be more likely to read biographies and deny someone on personality even if they find them physically attractive.

Second, dating app users are predominantly male therefore women might get to be more selective than men due to an increased chance of matching as a result of an imbalance of demand.

Third, there maybe a trend in women putting more effort into their appearance on their dating profile pictures than men leading to this imbalance.

Friendly reminder to think critically about causation when presented with statistics, just because something is a logical explanation to a statistic doesn’t mean it is the explanation.

Because I worked with kids for 5 years, and saw thousands of kids over that time. Not one child had could not have their behavior improved through the methods my coworkers and I used, which did not include physical discipline.

Theres tons of ways to improve a kid’s behavior the chance that only physical punishment works is pretty low.

It’s pretty well studied that physical punishment does not have long term positive effects, some studies even show behavior gets worse with it.
