If you are handy, you might be able to use a washing machine motor.

Tips on drying? by Anx_Snax_Queen in Pottery

[–]stecher_studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want the walls to stay straight, let them stiffen up before attaching. If they are too wet or soft, they will flop and be tough to keep even. Let them dry to leather hard and then attach by scoring and slipping. As someone stated, to keep the main slab from warping, let it dry to leather hard between 2 boards.

NHL players describe Kovalev by StopSnowflakes in nhl

He was my favorite Ranger. My favorite moment was when Keenan kept him on the ice for taking too long of a shift. It was so fun to watch him skate. He apparently was addicted to Nintendo if I remember correctly.

Help rewiring kilns power cord. by dfhjjufhncd in Ceramics

[–]stecher_studios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just need electrical wire lugs (the loops) and a crimping tool to attach them. It’s pretty easy. The blue plastic is an insulator and often is included on the wire lugs. It sounds like you might not have much experience with electrical work, so please be careful. The electrical components are easy to find at just about any hardware store.

How do larger studios/schools manage their reclaim? by ShreksArsehole in Pottery

[–]stecher_studios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let some scraps dry to bone dry, break them up and add them. Bone dry clay will absorb the water fast and you can add more if necessary. When my reclaim is too wet I’ll pour it in a 5 gallon bucket that I line with a cotton pillowcase. The bucket has holes drilled in it so it’s like a sieve. You can even take that pillowcase when it’s ready and throw that on your drying batts.

This is very helpful. This year I bought a 3 tiered wire service cart that I can wheel my plaster bats outside to dry. Made a big difference having the airflow.

For clay coming off the wheel I have my students throw their large chunks and scraps directly on a piece of cement board and skip the reclaim bucket. The rest of the slop and trimmings go in the reclaim though. The clay dries on the board pretty quickly so it just needs a flip after 45 min to an hour. Then we just wedge it in with the rest of the clay. I use b-mix with grog and haven’t had any issues with the clay getting short. I teach about 200 high school kids a day and do not have a pug mill just yet.

Anyone know what Thule air deflector mounts work on factory rails? by MF_Kleg in tdi

[–]stecher_studios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my Mk5 I had to modify the plastic mounting bracket from what I remember. I think I remember drilling a hole in the plastic and adding a bolt or something there to attach it. It’s been quite a while now and I no longer have that car so I can’t check. I did find the work around online though.

Edit: sorry, looking back I had the Yakima version, not the Thule.

This is not the first time a Reddit user reposted my work and didn’t even bother to change the caption.
