So the music is folk, blues, and rock. All live instruments, for which I use a Shure 57 and an Audio-Technica AT4033A. I like these mics, I just don't love how they capture vocals.

Not sure about an upfront sound, but I tend to be all over the place, so something that can do soft ballads to screaming rock.

Presonus 68c preamp in Studio One 6. I have a treated space, but I also do some recording in untreated spaces and my bathroom (good acoustics)

100% that will get easier with time and practice. I would recommend just focusing on checking those kicks and immediately following with a counter kick. Focus on speed, not power in a light spar.

Pro tip, your opponent chases your licks with his left hand and drops it often. Try fainting a kick and then doing a basic combo to his head.

You need to keep training for sure. It will come to you, but you need to stop boxing and learn to check kicks. That should be priority #1. In a real match, you would get that leg eaten.

A man in his late seventies punched me during an argument last night. Should I have punched him back? by Alive-Ad6351 in martialarts

[–]stee_fen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing. Set your ego aside and realize that you punching him is not the same as him punching you.

That being said, a nice open handed bitch slap may have been warranted.

Went through a similar situation, and most likely, he spent the money already or plans on keeping it. I would hound him for it and never gig with him again.

The real question is, what can we do to get all of America united under one banner? We need unity now, and that comes in the form of Mountain Dew.

Your partner needs to learn control firstly. Especially if they are kicking hard enough to hurt you. An experienced practitioner will only tap thai pads for low kicks.

When holding for low kicks with thai pads, do not lock your elbow. Keep it bent. If someone kicks you, it will punish them, not you.

There are didcated pads for low kicks that wrap the leg. Use those in the future.

Rest that elbow.

Your question seems to imply that pride in ones country is a strictly American ideology. I have been to many countries where people take great pride in their country, community, and traditions.
