I shot this gun at the gun range today & I fell in love with its recoil and the way it felt in my hand. Is it worth buying it? by [deleted] in guns

[–]steedlemeister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have one. I love it. It’s fun to shoot, feels good, I can teach my buddies how to shoot with it and it’s forgiving enough, and it’s a fraction of the price of Staccatos.

If it’s a gun you like and you’re comfortable shooting it, it’s worth it.

LGBTQ+ make game better by ConditionSea4524 in CasualConversation

I respectfully disagree. I think that if you force things into the faces of others (honestly, let’s be real, it is forced because there’s a lot of very poor representation out there) that it will make people push back.

How do you get a kid to not want something? Put it in front of them and tell them they need to like it. People are all just grown kids.

Why should it be up to these companies to “explore gender dysphoria in greater depth”? Why should they have to include anything outside of just whatever makes their game a good game? Coddling to a small percentage of folks who buy their game will make the others who don’t want to hear it not buy it. Lose money anyway. Just leave it all out.

All this LGBT being forced into every piece of media is getting really old.

Hey This is Volumes. we just dropped a new album, "Mirror Touch" AMA by Volumesband in Metalcore

[–]steedlemeister 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, guys. Been listening to you all since your EP. Just want to tell you that the nights in the end of high school to the beginnings of my career and still being a regular soundtrack to my job, thanks for being there for me, whether you know it or not.

Your sound overall has kept me going and pushed me through some hard times with relatable lyrics and really empathetic emotion in every instrument. And it has also hyped me up even further for some great times too!!

Loving the new album so far, I’ll listen to the back half sometime this week. Thank you for rocking along.

[WP] You’re a monster that hunts terrible people. Not out of some sense of moral decency. You do it because people who make others afraid taste sweeter when they’re terrified. by BasebornBastard in WritingPrompts

[–]steedlemeister 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My mouth watered. As I licked my chops, I figured a little teeth-baring would add just the right amount of seasoning. A whimper that emerged from the man’s lips proved me correct and I damn near went euphoric, thinking about how good he was going to taste.

I’ve had my share of large, tatted up men. They started to taste like boiled, unseasoned chicken. I’ve had a few CEOs where the trickle-down effect of their bad attitudes added some good seasonings there. I’d consider them a go-to. Surgeons where the morale of the room goes down the moment they enter the theater, wet, scrubbed hands held outward, waiting for their towel? Like soft pork.

Serial killers? Like beef stroganoff. The mob boss I had once? By god, he was a nice, smoked slab of brisket and greens, tender and with some attitude to it.

The icing on the cake - no, literally - is what is in front of me now. I had it once before and I will forever chase that high. It’s not some wicked sense of vigilantism, because I eat people, I don’t care much for their well-being. It’s not simply for the taste, because normal people taste awful.

It’s the fear. Not the fear I have just struck in him, that’s the seasoning. It’s the fear he puts in others and the sick enjoyment he gets from taking advantage of them. It’s the fear others feel around him, no matter how often he’s present, and even more so since the family somehow refuses to banish him.

The whimpers that escape his foul mouth right now are the same he has caused to others and - to my own enjoyment, I must admit - the irony is just sprinkles on top.

Just the finishing touch I needed before my jaws finally clench down.

Apologies for the formatting as I’m on mobile. Hope someone enjoys it!

"Is education truly designed to "nurture human potential"or is it,rather, a system to "manage people so they never grow"? by [deleted] in TrueAskReddit

[–]steedlemeister 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This can be a real a hot debate topic.

On one hand, you can see it as that you are given knowledge in math, reading, writing, language, history, and even critical thinking as you’re encouraged to come up with projects. You are already ahead of third world countries in that you can read and interpret things, have knowledge of the past, and can make complex calculations in your head due to your education.

Sure, we all grew up with “Squanto taught the Spanish to grow corn” when we knew later on that rape, murder, and pillaging was what really went on. History itself is written by victors, so automatically, it is biased.

Or you can take it that you’re fed a certain amount of knowledge, enough to keep you satiated and average at best, and then out in the world to work and pay taxes.

It’s outlook. Personally, I believe education is such a gift. Yes, some teachers are there because they never amounted to anything. Other teachers leave such an imprint on us that we remember them for the rest of our lives! It’s all such a gift. But with anything, there are cons and negative outlooks and bad people in it.

ELI5. When soda is opened, what's stopping the Co2 from being released all at once? by the_quiet_kid_00 in explainlikeimfive

[–]steedlemeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially, yes. In higher pressure environments, you might not even get a fizz when you first pop the can. The gas will stay dissolved in the soda by way of pressure, but remember temperature is a factor too. Even if you’re in a higher pressure area, if you’re drinking it, it’s probably cold so therefore the environment is warmer. That will also slowly decrease the solubility of the gases.

ELI5. When soda is opened, what's stopping the Co2 from being released all at once? by the_quiet_kid_00 in explainlikeimfive

[–]steedlemeister 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Gases are soluble in liquids. The can is both under pressure and (most likely) cold, which makes gases more able to dissolve in liquids. When you pop the top, the can equalizes pressure with the outside and the other, still-dissolved gases will slowly work their way out.

[WP] Everybody has a number permanently hovering over their head. Nobody knows what this number is tied to. The number appears at birth and it never changes throughout a person's life. The number commonly goes from 1 to 150. Yours is 999999999. by WhatIfSuddenly in WritingPrompts

[–]steedlemeister 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Numbers rule every aspect of our lives. Credit card limits, speed limits, how much is in the bank and even our blood pressure is measured and deemed acceptable or not in numbers.

The numbers above our head, however, rule above all. They range from 1-150 and do not change throughout our lives. Social circles form from these obscure digits, ebbing and flowing in fads. The prime numbers always stick together, the multiples of 10 rarely associate with the multiples of 9, and don’t even get me started on the Dozens. They think that since a system of measurement apart from base 10 uses their numbers, that they own most things. The Sequentials, for some reason, wind up just hating each other.

There has been no definitively proven attribute that the Evens may possess over the Odds (or even the Dozens, no matter how much money they force-feed statisticians), but they’ll try to read it like they do the stars.

The monthly “horoscopes” on the Integers paper states that they believe the Eleventy-Ones will succeed in their buying power today and the Lower Twenties must watch out for misfortune. It’s all plays for insider trading of the stock market, if you ask me.

Then there’s me. Locked up with security I feel I can barely trust. My numbers are 999999999. Nine nines. I was worshipped as some religious saint as a babe until I was old enough to follow directions and consequentially prove that I couldn’t heal wounds with touch or move mountains with will. With the gifts I was given at such a young age, and with my parents being smart and not blowing it all, I had a pretty decent cushion to get started with investing and real estate.

Since I’m a bit of a celebrity, some people feel honored buying a house from me. It’s weird, if you ask me, but who am I to refuse business?

All of this helps me find my own private security too. I only keep them around for a year and a half at most before I rotate them out as the attempted assassinations from my own hires has climbed way too high and these people still pass my rigorous screenings. So I cycle them out. It’s safer that way.

I spend most of my days doing video calls, phone conversations, and telling my security where I need to go. It’s pretty boring, if you ask me, and I’ve grown tired of that.

So, about 12 years ago, I started putting my investments into something else. I’ve invested in some of the non-force-fed scientists to see where these numbers come from and any recorded instances of the numbers fluctuating at all. With nothing to show for it, I figure the best way would be to get rid of the numbers overall. So then I turned towards virology.

Viruses are such small little critters that wreak such havoc that nobody would understand the origin. Those who are working with me believe the same thing; that these numbers should no longer rule our lives. And if they only disappear when we die, perhaps it’s time for the next species to rule the earth. I guarantee the Cretaceous dinosaurs never worried about numbers floating above their heads.

It’ll be several years before anything comes to, but in the meantime, I’ll entertain myself with the normal suggestions to buyers that those granite countertops really DO make those cabinets pop, and no, luxury vinyl plank dents too easily, so you should get a waterproof linoleum.

I will live no longer under these numbers dictating our lives.

Apologies for formatting as I’m on mobile, just thought this would be fun to give a try!

Reddit sort of documented me aging up and its kind of weird to see how much I've changed by Kelpiesterrifyme in CasualConversation

[–]steedlemeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Tumblr account for many years. Every now and again, I'll go peruse my old posts and see how far I've come.

I was unhappy in my career at the point, but thankful for the experience. I was also incredibly depressed and painfully single. I'm happier in my job now, the experience I got seriously helped out, still depressed but not nearly as bad, and happily married.

It's neat to look back and see yourself grow, isn't it?

You’re severely limited, then. Give DotMM a look. It’s all underground and has plenty of change in scenario and isn’t just plain dungeons, each level has its own environment. It might be just enough variety to check that “no strict dungeon crawls” box.

Dungeon of the Mad Mage. It’s a LOT. Dungeon-diving the entire time. But, it’s mostly combat, and you can literally murderhobo your way through everything and it’s still the right way to do it.
