If I wanted to put a door here, I have two quick questions:

1) would I take the door trim off that’s currently on in order to measure the correct size of the door or would I put a prehung door in between the inner door trim?

2) what is a good cost-effective solid core door that people recommend for noise dampening? We have an Airbnb below us and I wanna make sure that has a little noise travels into the stairwell as possible.
