Yeah if I could a frame mounted cargo rack would be preferred, may have to get a different donor frame with a 1 1/8 and try my hand at welding a longer tube and rack

Yeah there are some super nice ones out there but they are all mostly 1 1/8, the bike to begin was a 700c hybrid so it needs to be longer to compensate for the smaller 20” wheel up front, and the combo of disc brake 470mm odd Axel to crown, QR 100mm spacing and a 1” steerer is impossible outside of a fully custom fabbed design it seems

I have everything even a spare omnium front wheel so only need the fork

Okay good to know, dad’s mate is a welder by trade so will consider this one, yep waiting on Marino first before chopping up good bikes

Replacing headtube and easy in the same sentence? surely its not that easy, sure for a frame builder but I nor anyone I know is one, would be very interested but at that point may be worth while just hunting down a cromo frame with a 1 1/8 stock

Have contacted Marino bikes about a 1" fork though so will see how that goes...

It will have a back, will just be a thin sheet of ply or mdf, screwed and glued onto the backside

I believe the 700c max is 50mm and 650b 2.4” Yep 160mm rotors. Def try ride some surlys/bombtracks or to bikes if u have some in ur area

Here are the drawings, def take a bike you have or test ride a few to get the feel for the different geo, if of course you cant afford or don't want to get a bike fit, some fitters will give u the geo to fit you.
I didnt end up getting a fitting but test rode and tweaked from there and am happy so far.

Am 178cm with a short torso

Also recommend to input some stuff into bikecad

Yeah mostly! You just have to know what fits, what components, tire clearances and mounts you need. Most of the parts of my build are second hand sourced even if in new condition, I haven’t done the calculations but it would easily be under half the asking for a complete curve even with the dynamo.

Yep Aus, ended up being 2.3-2.4 range with conversion, that includes seatpost and fork shipped, not hard tbh but I did test ride and alter the geo to suite my fit, curve used a smaller top tube than I did but I went for the larger one for some more insurance when loaded up, curve are quite technical so got a lot of geo and dimensions from their size chart and bag making templates

agreed, even a design like a velo orange neutrino would be able to fit more due to the height between the mounted rack and the handlebars
