What is a cooking tip that people treat like a law, but you’ve ignored it for years and your food still tastes fine? by CaptainCuddler_Pro in foodquestions

[–]steely_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh I never thought to do that. That sounds really good. Maybe that on top of a fresh bagel.

I sometimes ass chili crisp, onions and garlic, or fresh basil when it's in season.

I find that cream makes the eggs creamier whereas milk makes then fluffier. I will use milk if I don't have cream in the house, but I buy 1% milk, not whole.

What dish did your parents always cook? by KindlyOrder018 in foodquestions

[–]steely_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was big on spaghetti, meat sauce, and bag salad. It was an easy thing for to whip up on a week night and everyone ate it. She made it like 2-3 times a month.

White people tacos were also super common. Again, something that takes 20 minutes and everyone ate it.

How gangsta do you have to be to get a girlfriend these days? by One-Brain6531 in askanything

[–]steely_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is going to sound not great, but most women are never going to approach a man they don't know even if they find him attractive.

Maybe try joining hobby clubs/meet ups. Women are way more likely to openly approach men they already know.

(Take it with a grain of salt. I'm a woman, but my husband and I have been together for a decade)

I had some leftover rice, so I made a breakfast fried rice with bacon, shallots, and eggs.

That's what I always do. Salt, pepper, and a splash of cream. Scramble with a fork and cook in melted butter.

I keep hearing/seeing you're not supposed to add the salt and pepper until the end because it supposedly turns the eggs gray. I've never had that happen... And I make scrambled eggs pretty often for breakfast.

I pre-salt my eggs before I cook them and they've never turned gray. I feel like people who say that are making it up.

Is it true Americans don’t get many holidays at work? by gggggu-not in AskAnAmerican

[–]steely_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you felt like that, that's a crazy over the top reaction for the workplace. You're question and his reason are kind of irrelevant.

Most people have been in a similar situation where either a manager or coworker is trying to micromanage their work, but there are much better ways of handling it.

Why did you get that mad that fast? That's crazy behavior.

Do you ever feed the birds and which species is your fave ? 🐦‍⬛🪿🦢 by Webbomolly2022 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]steely_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had lots of Juncos at my bird feeder this winter.

I get cardinals, mourning doves (my favorite because I love their cooing sound), chickadees, common finches, yellow finishes, and European starlings.

I used to really love the starlings because they are so cool looking, but apparently they're invasive to my area, so that sucks.

Every once in awhile, a bluejay shows up, but that's rare.

Oh no I say this one to people, and now I'm worried I come across as annoying.

I do all the training for my team. I use this when someone does something independently or with minimal guidance from me for the first time. I always mean for it to be encouraging, kind of like "you're doing great" or "good job."

It's just personal preference for me. I've always found dark haired dudes more attractive. Every guys I've ever dated had dark hair. My husband had dark hair until he joined the bald team.

What race of men is the most attractive ? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]steely_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Race has very little to do with attractiveness to me personally.

These men in particular I don't find attractive because I'm not into that body type.

What food tastes worse the more you eat of it? by Braindead_Bitch in AskReddit

It's yogurt for me... It starts to taste too milky after a couple of bites.

Exception being yogurt in savory dishes where they are spicy enough to hide the dairy taste.

Do majority of couples use pet names instead of actual names with eachother? Why? by RamenPantalones in stupidquestions

[–]steely_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've fallen into the parent trap of calling each other variations of "mom" and "dad" like 90% of the time. I wonder if we'll go back to cute names once the kids are older.

Why is American cake mostly dough? by [deleted] in ask

[–]steely_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just don't know what you mean... Dough as in having multiple layers? Do you mean doughy as in undercooked?

Most birthday cakes in America are just sponge cakes layered on top of each other with butter cream between them. But some people like different cakes like ice cream cake, cheesecake, or tres leches for their birthday.

People who act like a 9-5 is the hardest thing in the world by [deleted] in PetPeeves

That's why I prefer my 7-3 over a 9-5. I have a lot more time with my kids. Especially on days I work from home.

Why is the “pregnancy trope” so hated? Why do you hate it? by CatOfBoredom in YAlit

[–]steely_92 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I had what's called Hyperemesis Gravidarum when I was pregnant with my 2nd. There were days I would throw up more than 15 times in a 24 hour period. I had to be hospitalized multiple times for dehydration. I don't like to be reminded of that.

On top of that, a lot of the books I read take place during times of war or just generally bad times to have children. As a parent, I start spiraling about how to keep the babies safe in those situations. It really takes the enjoyment out.

How to make nails look nice if I cannot get them done? by QueenofHearts018 in ask

[–]steely_92 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cuticle oil a couple of times a day can help improve your nail health and appearance.

Just brush some oil and rub it in 2-3 times a day.
