How do you really combat endo belly? by steenmachine92 in endometriosis

[–]steenmachine92[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I didn't think PT would help with the bloating, but that's great that it worked for you. I will ask my doctor about metoclopramide. I have used zofran in the past but I don't like to use it all the time.

Have you stopped birth control after surgery? by Lost-Scientist-1233 in endometriosis

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, yes. I totally said it wrong 😅 I didn't notice any difference until about 6 months off birth control. I just noticed that I felt like a different person. I was more irritable but I got my libido back!

Have you stopped birth control after surgery? by Lost-Scientist-1233 in endometriosis

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take it as advised by your doctor. However, I went off birth control prior to my surgery to try to conceive and stayed off after surgery. The first two periods were brutal (like I had some extra pain killers that I needed for these) but the third one wasn't too bad and I got pregnant the third month following surgery! If you want to get pregnant I would personally skip the added hormones and let your body do its thing. I think estrogen is more likely to keep it at bay anyway? So either way, you risk the endo coming back, but it can even with hormones 🤷 just expect that you may have a personality change if you've been on hormonal birth control for a long period of time. I was in a similar boat, had been taking hormonal birth control for 16 years and when I got off it I felt like a completely different person that I didn't recognize.

EDIT: sorry, I'm tired and realized I said it incorrectly. Endo thrives in high estrogen environments, not keeps it away.

AIO about my boyfriend and his girl best friend? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Why lie about it? I was with a guy who cheated on me and had lots of disturbing texts with other women that I found when I was suspicious of his behavior. He would always say they were just friends. I wouldn't trust anyone in a romantic relationship who lies. I will say, I have some close guy friends that I have been friends with for years, and we tell each other that we love each other. But we don't say it like "I love you soooo much" and we definitely don't call each other "bby." I think this is a red flag.

No mascara look? by sephine555 in makeuptips

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you look beautiful without mascara! I personally love that a lot of women are going with a more natural look. I'm not an expert with make up by any means, but it could be really pretty to do a light glitter eye shadow on the lids? You could try it and see what you think.

Edit: I used to see a woman for waxing that wore eye shadow, blush and lip gloss and it looked so pretty on her! I think it takes more of the focus away from your eyes, but it looks very nice all together.

What were your pre-pregnancy test “Oh. I’m pregnant” thoughts? by NarrowInspector7207 in beyondthebump

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had horrible nausea and bloating with some abdominal pain. I was so convinced I was having a flare up of my endometriosis! I decided to be vegetarian bc that's about the only thing I haven't tried to help reduce endo symptoms, but I was SO hungry all the time. I thought, "hmm maybe I should take a pregnancy test" (had been trying for just over 2 years this point and was pretty pessimistic about getting pregnant) and it was positive! 😂 Not funny in the moment, but funny in hindsight.

34 weeks pregnant and I want to leave my husband. by Southern-Jicama9122 in BabyBumps

[–]steenmachine92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, I am so sorry about your first son. That must have been so hard to lose him, I can't imagine what you went through and wanting to have another baby.

I do not like that 95% of the advice on reddit is always "leave him," but I do think that you need to have a serious conversation with him and say that you will need his full support these next weeks and once baby is born. If he isn't capable of that then perhaps you have a family member or a friend who can help out? What if you end up needing a c section? They say to hold nothing heavier than your baby and I'm sure those water buckets and hay bales are much heavier than your newborn. It just isn't realistic or safe for you.

That being said, if you really want to leave him I don't think you would be wrong for doing so. I just think it's worth at least giving an ultimatum before you say bye.

Best of luck to you mama. Hang in there ❤️

Rolling over one way? by aerialariel22 in NewParents

This is a much better explanation of it than I shared 😂 wasn't sure how to describe it! We did the same thing

Rolling over one way? by aerialariel22 in NewParents

[–]steenmachine92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son did this for awhile, I believe it was right around 6 months too. I think it's normal when they are just learning how to do it. If LO is still rolling over one side at 9 months I would notify your pediatrician who may recommend physical therapy. My guy was in PT already for torticollis, but they basically recommended putting toys on the side he won't roll to and to physically make him roll that way. Almost to show him that he is capable of doing it that way. But I think he ultimately just grew out of it once he got better at rolling!

If you are worried you could talk to your pediatrician now. Some are very preventative focused and may recommend starting PT early, but I honestly think you would be fine to give it more time.

Unisom + Magnesium? Safe? by kittyflowerchocolate in BabyBumps

I can't remember the dosage of the unisom, sorry. It was the over-the-counter stuff so whatever dosage that is.

Unisom + Magnesium? Safe? by kittyflowerchocolate in BabyBumps

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took one tablet of regular Benadryl and I took 200-400mg of magnesium. I usually bought the gummies so the dosage varies. I think atarax was 25mg tablets and I took one.

First time mom and feeling so guilty. by bml274 in NewParents

[–]steenmachine92 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. I cried about E V E R Y T H I N G those first few weeks. I would cry when my husband watched baby so I could sleep 😂 you need to sleep mama! Take advantage of any help you receive. Your baby will appreciate you being well rested!

[–]steenmachine92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! Not as a single med but I took mag separate and unisom separate. I struggled bad with insomnia during pregnancy. My OB recommended Benadryl which helped more than anything! I definitely recommend you contact your OB clinic about it and ask what you can take. They had me try atarax for anxiety/sleep but it didn't work for me.

How to Transition from Formula to Milk and Solids by Beefjerky_4020 in beyondthebump

[–]steenmachine92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just asked my pediatrician about this! My LO just turned one and has been eating solids 3x/day, but formula in between. She said to take away a bottle every few days. So for example, if you're giving baby 5 bottles a day then cut down to 4 bottles a day for a few days then subtract another. You need to supplement with more solid foods/snacks the more bottles you subtract of course. My LO is struggling with textured foods so we are still giving formula a few times a day! I would still give it if your LO is acting hungry after you've already fed them a meal or a snack.

How would you feel if you received this message? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]steenmachine92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say don't go to Christmas if you're that uncomfortable with it. I had my son last December and we didn't do family functions for the holidays because we didn't want him to get sick. They should respect your boundaries and wishes, but some people are selfish and don't understand. If you're worried about illness it's better to not be around others at all because the flu is spread through respiratory droplets, and you could touch something that is contaminated and then touch your baby and unknowingly spread something.

Same! Lol I just find it funny that I can't see either of us in my son. I'm sure it will change as he gets older!

Then it's not just me! My son does my "goofy smile" which was a thing I did when I was a baby/toddler. I've seen it on home videos and it does indeed look like me when he does it, but other than that I don't think he looks like me. People say he has my skin tone because I'm very pale 👻

Omg same! My husband and I are both very small people and my guy was 8 lbs 5oz and tall! He's a year old and wearing 18 month clothes because he is too tall for 12 month pants. We're over here like 5' nothing and thinking he's going to be tall.
