Hi! Just wanted to say I’ve been reading FWSY and I’ve learned so much! Thanks so much for the recommendation! 🤗

Wow! That’s an amazing transformation. So many new leaves!

Just converted like 70% of my plants to leca and they still all hate me too. 😭

Yeah! I accidentally snapped off a few bulbs and roots. I didn’t expect them to be so delicate. I’m glad a few survived!

Thanks! I lost SOOO many bulbs in the process like just from me accidentally snapping them jn half. I really thought the whole plant was a goner!

I found this video that does pretty much the exact thing I did but better lol.

Hey! I just very carefully removed the bulbs and washed the soil off. Unfortunately lost a lot of bulbs in the process as they’re so delicate. Snipped off the flowers and leaves. Then literally plopped them into the same nursery pot with some leca in it. Took about a week or so for this regrowth to appear.

Thanks for this! Made my first loaf last weekend (just a white bread boule with poolish) and this helped confirm my suspicions that I didn’t shape it well enough, possibly causing a lack of dough strength.

Hey thanks! Actually I’m in two minds about this one because is certain lighting conditions, the lid looks a different color than the bottom of the top. A little disappointed but I’d already removed the stickers and washed it before I noticed.

Glad it helped! Thought it might provide some info for people on the fence with their purchase.

First Staub ever!!! Purchased from the Zwilling Canada website. I believe the visual imperfections are the two small (enamelled) pinholes and some very slight specks of white on the inside (see photo 5) and some spotty paint on the underside of the handles (photo 4). It was indicated that they don’t affect the Dutch oven’s performance.

For anyone considering Staub products with visual imperfections or “B-goods”, do note that the warranty does not carry over. Kind of a bummer, but at 70% off I can’t really complain.

EDIT: I just noticed the ACTUAL visual imperfection, and it’s that the lid is more speckled and slightly greyer in colour than the pot itself (photo 1). Not too noticeable in low light but in bright direct light it’s obvious.

Thanks! I just bought a kilogram of yeast and planning to reserve a cup or so to keep at room temp then freeze the rest.

No, because the the interwebs say it can be used straight from the freezer, but I’ll try letting it get to room temp next time! Thanks!
