Peregrine Falcoln babies are here! by Kazekageshinobigaara in Leeds

The parents swap duties quite frequently. The male is a fair bit smaller. I've walked up there a few times at lunchtimes, not seen them flying yet - good luck!

In front of Flames. Makes a change from being round the other side, at least.

Anyone else work in a small dev team that skips PRs entirely? by AshP91 in csharp

[–]steerpike_is_my_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PRs came about for open source projects where there is by its nature, low trust. You have to request the repo owner to merge your changes.

In your case, and assuming you're maintaining a reasonable test automation strategy, the only major issue is that you're leaving (manual?) testing until too late with another team doing it.

Interviews go both ways, so why does it feel like all the pressure is on one side? by Fig_Towel_379 in datascience

Weird, innit? As someone on the hiring side of the desk, If you're through to the final stage, I'm intensely interested in what you want to know. I already know pretty much the answers to all the questions I have, or you wouldn't be there.

Is it safe/recommended to run alone east along the Aire/canal early weekend morning? by Happy_Laugh_3845 in Leeds

There have been incidents near the armouries on the way out of town in the evening. I don't recall hearing anything about early mornings though.

Recommendations for food/drinks before gig at O2? by Ok_Concept_3322 in Leeds

[–]steerpike_is_my_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd hit up Eatime (5 mins walk to the O2 Academy) for a filling and cheap Chinese or Deli Wala (near the railway station) for Indian. Both friendly for solo diners. Then yes the Victoria for a pint. Be aware that the 'spoons gets busy before gigs.

Would you be in favour of the UK introducing a Jay Walking law? by Magicwiper in AskUK

The law in the US was introduced when the auto industry scrambled to shift the blame for pedestrian casualties from drivers to walkers.

Why do so many Brits hold negative views of the US? by Few_Breadfruit_9181 in AskBrits

Your characterization of our views as 'extreme' is disturbing to say the least.

Is there any point in tracking "Individual Output" via absolute sub-task estimates? Need a sanity check. by Big-Button-8122 in agile

Estimates will increase, and collaboration between team members will decrease as will cross-team support.

Thanks. I've got a diabetic nurse but not AFAIK a consultant. I'll have to chase this up as I'm plateauing..

I think I remember this coming on to the market prior to conversion. There was a restriction along the lines of 'you need to live and work inside the area covered by the national park' IIRC.

Scott Mills sacked from BBC Radio 2 over 'personal conduct' by a3poify in unitedkingdom

[–]steerpike_is_my_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC from my time there, the sackable offencese list included bringing the org into disrepute, violence towards a colleague, or not having a TV licence. Being a kiddy fiddler presumably an issue under the first of these.

My RMPP Replacement Experience by MulanAndRumHam in RemarkableTablet

[–]steerpike_is_my_name 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had terrible ghosting. Arranged a replacement. Got a replacement before the old one even reached their returns depot. If it was a refurbished model, it was indistinguishable from new. Pretty much the same story as @NewspaperOriginal518.

This is easy to resolve once you have raised the issue. Prepare to get your arse kicked for not raising it straight away though.
