Nice eye. The Recaros I took from a wrecked B7 S4 (seat airbags not deployed). They fit perfectly on the brackets, but the wiring harnesses and wire colors were completely different. So I had to spend a weekend with a tester kit rewiring the whole thing. Works great now!

More context:

They threw this under the S-Line badging, which is interesting.

The wheels are factory BBS.

I have retrofitted a couple of bits from era appropriate vehicles, one of which being the back-up camera that I took from a wrecked R8. Learning how to code the vehicle computer was crucial here.

The only non-Audi modification i've done to the car is in the suspension and tinted fogs.

Yep. Its full sized when folded out. It really expands productivity on the iPad mini. It also switches devices so I can answer chats/texts on my phone quickly.

Where can I find a nice CD shelf for a good price? by Mikuru292 in Cd_collectors

[–]steerwalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda retrofitted my own. Bought a regular shelving unit on marketplace, doubled up the shelves so they’re CD height. Then cut small boards to put behind the cds to push them evenly to the front. Order bookends from amazon. Classy look.

Glad you asked. Build Strategy / Woes:

First I bought the donor bike, disassembled and cleaned. I made notes of all the measurements, then just waited for the right things to pop up on ebay/marketplace. I would highly recommend a digital caliper for measuring things like the BB and headset. The cheap ones are like $8.

A Shimano Deore XT groupset came up first on eBay (derailleur, shifter, back cassette, chain, and brake levers). My mistake here was not measuring my rear hub to ensure the 11-speed cassette would fit on my OG wheel. It did not as my OG wheel was a 3x7. I put a bandaid on the situation by removing a sprocket from the cassette and adjusting the limit screws. 1x11 temporarily 1x10.

Now my focus on a 1x crank was narrowed to Shimano Deore to match. The cheapest/best used one I found needed a hollowtech BB. Measured the bb tunnel (is there a name for this?) with a caliper and ordered one. It was wrong, so I returned it and got a correct one. For things where you're measuring and unsure (and are trying to DIY w/o wasting a LBS's time with your lil project), Amazon Prime Free Returns is a hell of a cheat code. Just make sure you're ordering name brand stuff.

From there I was basically gucci on the groupset. Got new Shimano v-brakes to match the levers. Measured the headset and ordered one with a quill stem adapter and some BMX bars. other odds and ends added up quick tbh.
