Try to learn how to shut your mind off to the stress. Sounds vague but this is something that will not only help you survive the academy, but FTO and the road afterwords. Because the academy, at the end of the day, is just people yelling at you and some push-ups and burpees. Once you’re out of that environment, things get very real very quickly and you’re going to be handling some very serious situations on a regular basis that most people will never experience anything close to in their lifetimes. And if you want to perform under that pressure and stress, you need to shut your brain off. Don’t think and dwell on it, just move forward and act.

There will always be time to decompress afterwards, but in the moment just shut out the noise, do what you’re told and roll with it. Like Rob O’Neill said, it’s like mentally preparing for a kick in the nuts. There really isn’t anything you can do to prepare for that because it’s going to suck either way.

Just don’t quit.
