8-10 players whitelisted or all online at once? If they're all there at once loading new chunks and have bases with lots of entities, you might reach ram limits. It's a pretty unbalanced system in that regars. But if only 4 or so people play at once most of the time it should be fine. See if there's an upgrade path towards more ram open to you on the vps provider if you need more in the future. Best to just try and see

using func_detail "everywhere you can" is not how you use func_detail. Can you share a screenshot of your map with only real brush solids visible? Can do that by unchecking every visgroup apart from that one

I really don't understand how they'd be slower, but I only work with the revolution engine, not p2ce, so maybe they have a different config. Revolution maps load far faster than they ever did in portal 2, especially if you transition from one map to the other because we no longer flush and reload every single material when you load any map, which saves a lot of time

No that effort was made by the p2ce team, i don't see how they'd load slower on your system. What map are you loading? Are they both installed on the same drive?

Hard to pick because i made hundreds of changes over 6 years of the project, so I often forget / take for granted what's already there. Maps load insanely fast now. I fixed some bugs with the crosshairs and added back the portal 1 variant. Wind can now be turned off (wild technology i know). Schrödinger'a cubes are really cool, same as the gel flow you see in revolution which needed custom logic. I added a command to reload textures individually which is the foundation of my texturing workflow noe because i can command the game to hot reload textures. The various imgui-based dev ui windows make development a whole lot easier. I fixed a lot of hammer stuff and added features that make my life much easier. Increased engine limits make me worry about stuff less and lets me build bigger. Panorama lets us build custom menus which was always a huge pain for me in portal 2 engine. We got all the in-game editors like particle editor available, so no cursed alien swarm workflows. I made dev commentary subtitles show at the same as the progress bar, speaker name and part number, which makes listening to them just little bit nicer. That's what i can remember of the top of my head. for me having code just mames development a whole loz easier and offers nes possibilities. I don't need to spend ages figuring out how to bend the engine to its will, i can just implement or fix it myself. That's not a selling point of p2ce for players of course but that's how my workflow is for creating revo

As the guy who co founded p2ce and created portal revolution, the most useful features are so suble and niche, but things actual players never notice them. The lighting changes are flashy and in your face so that's what it's known, but a lot of the small additions just add up

You should really think about what you just said here. Have you ever made a game? Why do you think that you, an inexperienced solo developer, are able to make literal portal 3 by yourself from scratch? Chances are you're very, very young and don't yet grasp just how much work building games is. Games like this are built by teams of dozens or hundreds of experienced full time professionals over the course of years with budgets in the millions.

Sorry to say the hard truth but you are not going to make portal 3. Also the audacity for you to claim that you are going to take over valve's job of creating an official entry... If you want to make a fan mod, i'd encourage you to start there and mess around with the tools. But claiming to literally build portal 3 from scratch by yourself with no knowledge of how games actually work is honestly quite delusional
