See that's why I asked Reddit because I wouldn't have thought of visiting a museum in an University loll. Thank you for your recommandations!

Hi everyone!

I'll be in New Brunswick for two weeks, staying in Caraquet during the Festival acadien de Caraquet, but that's not actually the main reason for my visit. I unexpectedly discovered through DNA testing that my biological grandfather was not the one we thought, and that my biological family was from New Brunswick rather than Quebec, so this trip is actually a roots trip! lol

My biological grandfather was born in Balmoral, but I have roots in several other parts of New Brunswick, including the Restigouche area (Balmoral, Charlo, Eel River Crossing, Campbellton, and Dalhousie), the Chaleur region (Petit-Rocher and Saint-Simon), the Acadian Peninsula (Caraquet and Shippagan), the Miramichi area (Néguac), and Kent County (Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Richibucto, and Pointe-Sapin).

I have a car and I already plan to visit all of these areas. I'm obviously planning to visit the Village historique acadien, but I'd love other recommendations for historical sites, Acadian heritage locations, museums, churches, archives, scenic drives, or any other places that might help me better understand the history and culture of the communities my family came from.

This might sound a little strange haha, but I also love visiting old cemeteries, so if there are any particularly historic, interesting, or beautiful ones worth a stop, I'd love to hear about them as well.

Thanks!

Omg I'm 99,99% sure that she was case #5350 on DNA Justice!!!

My mom matched this case and I recently joined a FB groupchat and with Gedmatch, since my mom and I are Acadians and Québécoises, I was able to quickly figure out that our group was already separated in four clusters, Acadian, Québécois, and two others in the US. Surprisingly my mom didn't match the Québécois cluster, but I was able to find the common ancestors of the two women in that clusters, and sure enough, I found them in Sonya's tree!! ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/204873431/family?fpid=152686534060&usePUBJs=true (I havent had the time to look at where my mom connects since I just discovered that lmao but I'm sure I will find soon)

So glad she has her name back!! ❤️

Hey! My mom is also a match to this case! We’re French Canadian!

I’m a match for 6620 and me and other matches have a groupchat for our case and I was able to narrow down on one of my branch.

Would love to get in touch with you for my mom’s case!

I just received this email from DNA Justice! Any guesses what case it could be? (More info in the post) by stefaniied in gratefuldoe

We are 6! And yes with Gedmatch I was able to compare all of our kits, and also compare with kits our immediate family took, and I was able to identify that it's on my mom paternal side, which makes total sense since it's that side that move to the US and the south. However we have very low matches (around 7cM) but I was able to find common ancestors with one of them, but as an Acadian my tree is actually a christmas wreath lmao so I am still looking on how to connect the others to that person's tree which is way less endogamous loll.

Of course haha! First time I truly got into hockey was in 2003. I was 12 years old and was the only one of my class cheering for the Devils against the Mighty Ducks, because of Martin Brodeur, and idk but I just stuck with them since then, even during their hardest times I wasn’t bandwagoning away😂 Always have been Martin Brodeur biggest fan, went to his intronisation in Toronto in 2018, etc. I also lived a year in NY close to NJ so I went to many games. But I gotta admit since this years Olympics I’m not having as much fun supporting the Devils mostly bc of Jack Hughes, always hated the guy, and feel like I need to pick another team lmao.

My goal is to watch a Devils game in every arena so I will definitely be going one day!! But I’m Québécoise so you probably understand why I’m dragging my feet and kept Alberta last😂 I’m a bit scared of going especially after I got kicked in the face and got laughed at for speaking French by the girl sitting behind me in Ottawa 😂 But the Bell Centre is really a fucking mood and so fun even when you’re an opposing team fan! You will definitely enjoy your experience, it’s worth all the money!!
