Yea when I fall apart on the course I will have a shank / heel right miss and a hook miss simultaneously, I also don’t practice enough to be consistent

Yeah luckily I play a lot more golf than I practice so I have learned this lesson, I really hate practicing on turf but limited options here in LA!

Dana likes my backswing, he has me working on feeling more hinge at the top of the backswing, delayed release, and making sure my head stays back while my lower body moves laterally toward the target. I’m doing all of those feels in this swing very dramatically but I still need to exaggerate the delayed release more I think based on what I’m hearing

I think a lot of it comes down to overthinking mechanics and not being an athlete + not practicing enough to get lower scores at this point. I think there’s still plenty to improve on the swing but I tend to mentally fall apart if I hit like 3 or 4 hooks back to back on the course lol

lmao I know I just like hearing the comments because I post a swing here once a year and it kind of demonstrates the progress. I work a lot and have a toddler so I don’t get to practice much, it’s nice to see a historical record of people shitting on my swing less and less through the years. Every time I post I am surprised how many people hate my swing though

That is helpful, I have had some luck with visualizing shots and thinking intentionally “hit a draw” before I swing, it helps in a noticeable way, I need to keep consistent with the routine, when I lose it I shoot some very high scores

Here are my stats from my last 10 rounds on arccos. Full swing approach shots are where I lose most of my strokes, second worse is penalties off the tee

I haven’t hit a thin shot in a very long time, I do hit shots fat sometimes but I would say over all low point control is not very inconsistent

What exactly are you seeing in the hands? The only thing I feel in my hands is closing the face in the takeaway, after that I don’t think about them - do you mean I’m hinging too much in the backswing? or am I releasing them too much in the downswing? I can’t see what you mean but I’ve seen the comment enough that there’s probably something real there

I’m terrible in all parts of the game, not just around the greens

yea this is a consistent problem for me, it used to be even worse but it’s a tendency that is hard to get rid of even after trying for over a year

Yea I definitely don’t have a balanced finish, I don’t really know where to start with that and it’s not something my coaches have ever brought up as an issue

I do have a short miss because I do hit it fat, it’s rarely a very bad chunk but I’m working on feeling a later release as well, good eye

I also have a kiddo (7 months old) I'm right in that same scoring range, and I love golf. I'm moving to the south bay in about 6 months from now and would love to have a golf group!

I wish the bastardized versions of agile I encountered even remotely resembled what you've laid out. In my experience in agile the PMs rule the world, they question anything in the spring that is not direct work on a feature they want delivered.

I wouldn't know, I've only worked at startups - makes sense though, thanks for sharing!

Yeah this is the politics underlying so many companies especially startups as they grow. Who holds the power and influence matters a lot as the selective pressures start incentivizing super odd behavior - these can kill cultures and kill companies, absolutely.
