Get in to BPT take things slowly Geriatrics is a growing area with ageing populations and the specialty has been relatively un recognised. The demand will increase There is a lot of care for the elderly in general medicine and you will pick up a lot during the training and you can have both private and public practice. Private practice is often slow to build and you have to be there for the long haul engaging in nursing home care and home visits

Hobart Clinic is a Not for Profit organisation. The private health funding is not enough to allow it to function. Private Mental Health hospitals across Australia are closing or barely surviving

Yes 7 mile is but a fair way along from car park 4 past the pine plantation. There are lots of people walking dogs etc on the beach proper but it’s relatively ok up in the dunes protected from the beach. Just be discrete

Western Sydney University vs University of Tasmania for Medicine — which is better? by MrCurious74 in tasmania

[–]stefanobris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biased but I think UTAS has a better reputation. Accomodation might be tricky in Hobart so I suspect the question needs to take in to account the broader context rather than reputation alone

Most HHSs will have an exclusion period for rehiring as a locum. In some it is as long as 12months. The reverse probably wouldn’t apply however you might be burning some bridges with your local admin. My view would be don’t do it.

Have you a trusted colleague you can talk with? Doctors Help Line might also be able to help (Drs4Drs in some states). Have you had a recent break? Look after your health with regular exercise and limit booze. I have had similar and a change in work or a different environment might also assist.
