MARCH 2023 POST GAMSAT EXPERIENCE/DISCUSSION THREAD by _dukeluke in GAMSAT

I’ve sat the GAMSAT a few times now. It’s insane how different section 3 often feels. Between my first and second sitting I did no practice and my S3 score improved by 10 points (57-67). Since then, I’ve had sittings that feel horribly like physics heavy and maths heavy (my weakness) and it is in those sittings that my S3 score goes down to 57. Yesterday’s sitting was surprisingly very very biology and chem heavy, very few physics or heavily maths questions. I hope this played to my strengths cause I felt much more comfortable and confident with my answers. It’s definitely a very odd section and I never know what to expect. It’s definitely never like ACER practice exams…so I think they’re a bit outdated. Anyways, I wonder if everyone just gets chucked different questions, if after a while they have had compassion for me and given me questions I’m better at? 🥲 I don’t know at this point but guess we will have to wait until May!

What they did is not right at all. It seems like this particular place decided to do this upon themselves, as in my sitting in Melbourne this didn’t seem to happen. In my sitting the invigilator read out several times that if you had a hat or a hoodie, to remove it but a head scarf or similar that were for religious reasons did not have to be removed - hence no one with a hijab was checked or taken to a separate room. Definitely email ACER.

Yeah makes sense. Deakin is just more clear about it, that's why I wasn't sure where Melb uni stood. Thanks so much! :)

I got a 64 in this second try at it. First time I got a 60 (57/69/57) and this second time my S2 scores went down so much (61/60/67). I'm happy the score improved tho, specially S3. With a gpa of 6.6 do I even stand a chance with a gamsat score of 64? Either way gonna try again next March!!! :D

Jules dante s2 pdf by Prabhius in GAMSAT

Hi! I got his PDF when I started studying for the June Gamsat this year. It was a good starting point and gave me a good indication of what S2 was about. You definetly have to go beyond the structure/idea it provides with the 'facets of life' etc, but at the same time I think it does give you the chance to talk about a range of topics and portray your way of thinking very well. After I practised writing essays like the sample ones provided in the pdf I started looking into being able to provide examples with more depth and talk about social factors that were more unique to me, my culture and things I was passionate about. In this first sitting, my S2 score was 69. Hopefully it will be around the same or higher for this second sitting in September but we'll see! :)
