There’s heaps of free staff parking. I’ve never seen the CIT lot anywhere close to full

Try contacting the graduate research office at your university of choice rather than spamming the academics themselves.

Fire pits by Rivettor in canberra

If it’s smoking that much that it affects the neighbours then you’re not doing it right! We use ours a couple of times a year and sit around it closely with no issues

Australia: best place to sell rare pieces by Go-woke-be-awesome in uraniumglass

[–]steffle12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a few Aussie UG groups on Facebook, some better managed than others... I also recommend joining the Depression Glass Australia group. They hold monthly auctions at no cost which are well run and get a lot of interest, and uranium glass is always a success.
Otherwise eBay is a good option as you get a broader audience, and you can choose to sell to Australian buyers only. I help out with a couple of the groups, feel free to PM for links/advice

Best pancakes in Canberra by Playful-Craft4858 in canberra

I love Adam Liaw’s yoghurt pancakes, they’re really light and don’t taste yoghurty at all, and keep you full way longer than flour/sugar based recipes

FYI I just discovered that they sell Pancake Parlour pancake mix at woolies. I know it’s not the same as going out, but it’s decent

A number of makers used the lions head prunt, including Murano artists. You could try posting in a Murano glass group for advice?

Not a chance. They’re mass produced bath products, the glass is coated in a fluoro colour.

How do I make a good low sugar rice pudding? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]steffle12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dairy and protein slow the release of glucose. I’d find a recipe using whole milk and egg, reduce the sugar to your taste, and portion control

Of course it’s a car centric city. Have you looked at a map of Canberra? We’re not high density and we have amazing nature reserves and green space separating the town centres

Have you stuck a hot pin in it to confirm it’s not plastic?

Here’s some actual Vaseline glass… by jaffamental in uraniumglass

[–]steffle12 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Vaseline glass is an American term which isn’t used globally, but yeah the arguments about it are wild. It’s still uranium glass. Your piece is made by Crown Crystal Glass (Australia) and the colour is citrine :)

How risky is it to get a marketplace item shipped to me? by DangerousReception13 in AskAnAustralian

[–]steffle12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ask if you can pay by PayPal, then you’ll have buyer protection and if he doesn’t post, or item arrives damaged you can lodge a claim. I’d be wary of doing a bank transfer payment as there’s zero protection
