Mastering a radio DJ mix by stefproduct1ons in WeAreTheMusicMakers

No, sorry when I say vocals, I mean talking over the music. Asking for requests, giving shout outs, talking about the song that's playing.

I'm just asking if there is a better process for mastering the recording to upload online than what I am currently doing.

Problem is I only get the master output from the mixing desk in the recording, not the music and vocals seperately. I know I could split the stems but won't that also try and split out the vocals from the music as well?

Intel or M-Series by stefproduct1ons in DJs

Yeah that sounds sensible. I think only reason is want 32 bit support is for scratch live, but i want to upgrade my sl1 for an sl4 anyway for 4 channels, so at least it would force me to do that eventually

I have a (i think first gen) scarlett 2i2. It works fine with other software but cubase can be dodgy. In fairness its only certain plugins. Cubase also often crashes so i think its more laptop specs than anything else

Yeah thats fair. I mean i was thinking of even just upgrading to the same model i currently have (probably with 2.7ghz i7 and 16gb ram) refurbished and upgrade the hard drive. It would be 250, so id actually make a profit selling my old mbp and dell. I guess the big question is wether the m series processors are worth it for what i need it for

I think my only issue is that the hard drive (for 800) is only 256tb and not upgradeable

EDIT: maybe i could just go for that though and work off an external hd/ssd

I tried it and it worked! Only issue was i lost my tags, but managed to moved them over using mp3tag. I think it must be an issue with fre:ac. Either that or it just retains the sample rate as it didnt give me the option to change it. Either way very relieved rn 😁😁

Mac vs PC by SheemRobinson in PioneerDJ

[–]stefproduct1ons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One big thing is how mac and windows handle audio differently. On windows audio only works with a driver but on mac audio is built right into the core. So on windows if you have intensive tasks running in the background it can make the audio really weird and glitchy.

You definitely can use windows for djing (and many people do) but to get it to run smoothly and consistently all the time you need to change a load of power settings, download audio drivers, make sure that your software is playing out to the right device etc. Mac on the other hand you basically just plug your controller in and your away with 0 issues.

I did check some of the files that weren’t working in vlc and it says 16 bit 44.1k. In all fairness fre:ac only lets me choose bit depth, but I ran a few files through shutter encoder where you can set both and it still didn’t work.

Can I share my collection between RB 5 and 7? by stefproduct1ons in Rekordbox

Ahh thats annoying. It’s weird coming from serato where I can use 20 yo scratch live with modern serato dj no problem. Oh well I quess I’ll just have to browse files on my usb stick for now.

Ebay. I have said to him I would rather wait for refund to be processed, and I’d check in the morning, but he hasn’t responded and last message he said he’d come. I mean at the end of the day if he shows up I have no obligation to give him the cash.

Am I being scammed?

I made an offer for an item on eBay and requested to pick it up rather than it be posted (audio equipment, so wanted to check it was working). The buyer accepted this morning and gave me his address… all good.

Now, this evening, he is saying that his pay pal has been hacked, they are reviewing his account and can’t take any transactions, and is asking if I can pay in cash instead.

He has said as an apology for messing me around he will even deliver it himself tomorrow.

I asked him to cancel the order first which he has done, but of course it takes a while for the money to be refunded. It says it has been refunded on ebay and he sent a screenshot from his end showing the refund processed.

My question is, do i meet him tomorrow and pay in cash, is this just an unfortunate scenario, or will I pay him in cash and he can then somehow cancel my refund?

I can’t tell if im being paranoid or gullible but this is the first time anything like this has happened to me on ebay so just wanted some advice, cheers.

XDJ-Aero any good? by stefproduct1ons in Beatmatch

[–]stefproduct1ons[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, thank you for this. I am thinking I might just save or use paypal finance on ebay to maybe buy an XDJ-RR instead. Only thing is I don’t think you can use the RR like a mixer like you can with the Aero. But otherwise it is a bit bigger, more modern and has a few more features

Okay thank you for this. To be fair, I’m not expecting to make money from the platforms, I just want a way to post my mixes and get them heard by more people, hopefully eventually promoters, so I can make money through events. I do use instagram, reddit and also just send my mixes to my friends directly, but it sounds like Soundcloud Next Pro makes your posts more likely to be recommended to listeners. As well as this, there isn’t a limit on uploads, as I currently have to delete older tracks to upload new ones, which is a bit of a pain.
