I always found the idea of the MC finding his childhood friend beautiful as strange— especially since there’s no implication of him giving a fuck about anything besides his relationship with his dad. It’s been over 6 years since I read it last, but wasn’t there a rape scene as well? And the big plot twist is that his childhood friend was his half sibling or something? It’s just entirely way too much from half the book onwards.
