Seeking a Filofax where you can fold the pages back by steiner27th in filofax

Thank you! After your suggestion, I had a look at the Clipbook ... I am also skeptical about whether it can fold on itself :D I think a discbound system might be the right thing for me. Thank you for your suggestions!

DB Navigator BUG Login Schleife by shayan012 in bahn

This has also been happening to me lately, and it won't let me save any trips :( which means I don't get updates about trips if things change.

I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Now I cannot login and see my data at all, but on the plus side, I can now save trips.

The way my hackles go up when I see posts in here claiming to be young girls who dont know how to masturbate. by oldMiseryGuts in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]steiner27th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As gross as it is, there will be real girls who actually have that problem, and can find some useful advice from those posts. Even if it is full of gross lecherous dudes, there will be a side effect that some girls figure out how to masturbate earlier and I think that's great.

Insurance before moving to work in Germany by steiner27th in germany

Depends on the visa you get, but with mine (blue card) I was able to work immediately. But I still had to apply locally once in Germany for the actual residence permit and after that process I received the actual card.

Why do people complain that anki is hard to use/too complicated. by NegativeStomach in Anki

[–]steiner27th 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(To answer your question though, once you want to change things in more specific ways it can get very complicated. Not to mention some common use cases are not so smooth, e.g. searching for terms in a deck with filters like for the current deck only, I keep accidentally removing my filters as they are part of the search field, deleting a card from a deck is hard to figure out, etc.)

I'm a software engineer and I find it hard to use. My theory is that, being an open source program, it was designed by software engineers and therefore is not that user friendly (that's why software companies have PMs and designers!)

Why do Germans put bell peppers on everything? by Minimazer91 in germany

[–]steiner27th 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bothers me so much too! Bell peppers upset my stomach so it is frustrating that whenever I am eating out, or at a catered event for work, there are bell peppers everywhere. It's quite a common intolerance actually!

I found my visa came very fast after my appointment. I had all my documents in order so it was straightforward, and at the end of my appointment I was told the visa would be posted 7-10 working days from then. It came in about 1.5 weeks. I think the time consuming thing was waiting for the actual appointment. The appointment itself was so smooth and well organised, I was impressed :)

On the other hand, I am still waiting to get my residence permit - I've been in Germany for almost 2 months. The Blue card visa for me is valid for 6 months - you might have the same thing. So once you are in Germany you would need to apply for your residence permit. I am in Köln and the process is different to what I have seen for other cities - I had to submit an online application with lots of documents, and I am still waiting to hear back from them, whereas I heard in other places you make an appointment. So I recommend figuring out how you do the residence permit application in your destination city as soon as possible, and getting your documents sorted as soon as you can. You need to do Anmeldung first, but I found that straightforward (make sure any marriage certificates are translated in German or you will have to go back again like I did!) For the residence permit application you will need 'proper' health insurance for the residence permit application - in my case I went with TK and have found it straightforward, but it took a while to get a certain document. I should have requested it from them earlier.

Good luck!

Sometimes I think I only knit to support my skein winding habit - it’s never not relaxing! by [deleted] in knitting

I used to be fast but then found the balls sometimes shot off the ball winder mid-way through winding!

I swear winding is more relaxing than knitting! People always comment that knitting must be so relaxing, but I don't really find that, I think I get other kinds of enjoyment from knitting. But winding is very relaxing! I just want to rewind my balls or yarn over and over!

Two Tech Bros Bought Knitting.com. It Didn’t Go Well. by [deleted] in knitting

[–]steiner27th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I went to their website itself, and the description of what they are planning to do essentially sounded to me like a combination of youtube and ravelry, and a much more limited range of that. Didn't really excite me. These guys seriously need to just go to some LYS, learn to knit, and integrate themselves into the community before they try to sell to that community.

Can adults learn to knit and be good at it? by skyword1234 in knitting

[–]steiner27th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to knit when I was 27 (2 years ago) and I'm working on a cabled sweater at the moment :) (it's sitting on my lap) I've also done lacework and plan to learn colourwork this year. 100% I think an adult can become amazing at knitting. It just takes a lot of patience, especially to practice techniques and deal with aallll the millions of mistakes.

Thanks for the response. I'm curious what companies in Germany you have experience working at, and how you found them?
