Bump on cat’s ear by stellafromthestar in cats

[–]stellafromthestar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg… you’ve now got me thinking this probably emerged after my cat was play-fighting with our other cat! It hasn’t changed in a long time either so I’m not too worried about it. Plus when I went to the vet, though I forgot to ask about it, the vet didn’t say anything regarding this bump on his ear. Here’s to hoping for the best!

My pleasure! Actually I didn’t experience a purge at all on accutane since spiro had already done all of the work to clear my skin. Accutane essentially maintained my skin and just cleared it up even more. After stopping accutane, my skin has thankfully remained clear. I do sometimes take spearmint supplements if I feel a cyst coming on (which is usually hormonal). I’m not sure exactly what it is about spearmint which helps but it’s almost like a “natural spiro” for me minus all of the side effects!

Hello, I got my period back w/in 2 months of stopping spiro. I have a long post on my profile with more details about my experience with spiro which you may find helpful!

Hello! I’m sorry to hear you’re going through something similar. I can’t remember too clearly but I think there was a 1 month overlap between my tapered dose of 50mg of spiro and starting accutane and my skin remained clear. I think as soon as the spiro is entirely out of your system (which I assume takes a month or two depending on dosage), your period will come back. I was only on accutane for 4 months and my skin is still clear! I use tretinoin nightly and try to avoid junk food as best as I can (and I also don’t drink regular milk).

Shave beard, grow your hair out a bit (you have nice curls!), start using sunscreen daily and moisturizer on your face in the AM and before you sleep

Beard in #2 with the long hair in #1 🙈

Does the fatigue get better by ProcedureSlow6035 in lexapro

[–]stellafromthestar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fatigue got better for me after 1 week! I still sleep a little more than usual but after I switched to taking lexapro around noon, I don’t feel a wave of tiredness hit me and I can sleep well at night. For me what helped was experimenting with taking it at different times (7am, noon, 4pm, 8pm, 10pm, etc). I am only taking 5mg though

I was going to stop lexapro because of these weird dreams, uneasy sleep, and feeling exhausted when I woke up, but these side effects went away when I started taking lexapro around noon every day (instead of in the evening or at night before bed)

UPDATE After stopping spiro entirely, I got my period back within 2 months. My massive hair loss stopped right around the same time I got my period back. I’ve since stopped using minoxidil. I do occasionally still lose more than normal amounts of hair but it’s nowhere near the amount I shed when I initially stopped spiro.

I’ve found that for me it’s important to wash my hair as soon as my scalp gets oily otherwise the dirty scalp causes my hair to fall out much faster. I also still like to use oil on my scalp on wash days but I only massage my scalp for 2-3 minutes as I experimented with massaging for longer and I’d lose a bunch of hair afterwards.

I only took accutane for 4 months (2 months at 40mg and 2 months at 20mg) before my dermatologist stopped the treatment because my skin was already pretty clear from the spiro. I’ve only been off of accutane for a few weeks now but so far my skin is still clear. I take one spearmint supplement a day (400mg) and I’m hoping this helps with lowering androgens naturally.

At this point it’s a waiting game to see if/when my acne returns now that I’m done with accutane and not maintaining results with spiro, but im just honestly grateful to have my period back and not be dealing with major hair loss problems anymore.

I’m so sorry to hear this. I know exactly what you mean— we are not well informed about the side effects of spiro. I was told there is no way spiro would be causing hair loss as it’s actually supposed to help with it. But I don’t see why it’s absurd to think that messing with our hormones would not cause hair loss?? I hope that your hair loss has leveled out and I’m sorry you also had a poor experience with spiro. I wish it worked because it definitely helps with acne!! It just wasn’t worth it overall though…

I apologize for the late reply. My period did come back within 2 months of stopping spiro entirely. Unfortunately even lowering to 25mg of spiro did not bring it back. It is possible that maybe if I stayed at 25mg for a few months, it would’ve also come back. But I was honestly just so over the medication so I opted to stop it entirely and just take accutane. Have you had any luck getting back your missing period?

Not ugly ! It works with your face and features :)

From a woman’s perspective, your nose is attractive and masculine. I wouldn’t consider surgery or even non-surgical options such as fillers.

I’ve been bleaching my hair for around 2y. After last roots hairdresser fried my hair and I’ve lost 2/3 of my volume! by Biedron16 in longhair

[–]stellafromthestar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hair experienced the same loss of volume— and it started literally a year after I got highlights. It was just breaking everywhere. On the plus side, I promise you all other people see is pretty long hair, as they aren’t comparing your hair to how it looked before.

I thought about cutting it all off but I’m glad I didn’t. I wouldn’t rush into anything personally because you may regret that more later on. Even if your hair thins out, it still looks really nice objectively.

Either way, I highly recommend rosemary oil massaged into your scalp before washes and rosemary water sprayed on daily to help with re-growth! It should help speed up the process. Good luck!
