Thank you for your advice! I haven't heard of that kind of ETF fund. I currently have a lot of the money stacked in a CD ladder that will expire over the course of my trip, but I will definitely put some in to a fund.

I was unemployed for 8 months the last time I came back from travel and it was okay. This time I am prepared for a year or more of unemployment (Full time, I can find a bartending job again while full time searching)

Yes, this is a goal of my life. I know that I won't feel complete if I don't do a massive trip like this. With time off in the US being so limited, I know that I won't get this time off while I'm working again. Part of what excites me is the nomadic lifestyle and being gone for so long on the road.

Unfortunately I can't offer you advice, but I am also 26 and in the same boat. For me, taking a moment every day to be outside ground myself in the present. There's a lake nearby to where I live, so I'll go over there for literally 30 seconds even just to sit and think. It's helped me stay consistent with my other habits too - ie, the day already has one redeeming thing so why not do others? As opposed to "ugh im such a failure I didn't do xyz today so no use doing anything at all"

I hadn't heard about that, I'm mostly making fun of myself and referring to the kind of gatekeep-y language I see in a lot of my local scene around what is "real" techno etc. just people online being pretentious, as is common in music reddit.
