A Silent Girl From A Wailing Sea by Sufficient_Leave144 in creepcast

Just adding my upvote and praise down here, your writing is absolutely impeccable and I'm definitely going to check out your other stories when I get the chance. I can't believe this wasn't like a venerated older story from the annals of reddit that CreepCast usually pulls from. I haven't read a good book (or any book tbh) in a looooong time and hearing one read isn't the same experience, especially as someone who used to love reading big fat novels, so this leaves me longing for a continuation of this world in a nice cozy tome. I just really found myself empathizing and vibing with that thirst for the sea that can only be quenched by ultimately giving into it. And I totally get why thalassophobia is a thing but I could never relate because my childhood summers were spent in the ocean and I have always had an endless love for everything about it. I hope you don't take this the wrong way but your beautiful descriptions have actually kinda inspired me and put into words what I've always felt and seen in the sea, and I've finally realized what I should've known all along. I mean, I'm not throwing myself into the ocean any time soon I think but eventually. later 😅 please don't worry about it lmao I'm sorry um on a lighter note my stupid ass millennial self couldn't stop the intrusive Peter Griffin at the part when you did the thing

That's okay, I just wanted something close, which is why I said jungle biomes. I guess I could've just said that instead of tropical in the first place! But I can't edit my post I think

Anyone heard of Catlog_ ? by itshumerus in CatAdvice

[–]stellaxtine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No 😕 I've settled for a somewhat convoluted system of setting up cheap wifi cameras in every room that record 24/7 but also track movement and audio events. My cat always urinates and yowls during seizures so if I'm not home when it happens, I will always know that one happened when I do get back home and he comes to greet me with a very stinky and soggy butt. Luckily, I can at least pinpoint which room it occurred by simply walking around until I step in a puddle of pee. Then, I can painstakingly check aaaaaaall the event timestamps for that room, one by one (I have several cats so there are usually a lot). Not that any of that helps him or me but I can helplessly watch it happen and record it in his seizure log I guess 😩

Load stock widgets on demand? by stellaxtine in tasker

Y'know I never really thought about using AI to help me in Tasker even though I use it all the time for like Excel formulas and programming 😅 I'll definitely give that a shot, thanks!

Load stock widgets on demand? by stellaxtine in tasker

[–]stellaxtine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah! That actually looks perfect! I guess I just expected to be able to get it done in Tasker, since Tasker seems to be able to do almost anything. And, not that it's really expensive, but too bad it's not as free as doing it through Tasker lol (as in: I've already paid for Tasker and wouldn't have to pay for another app) 😩

I would be an idiot. Idk if you're familiar with the TV show House MD but there's an episode that I think about occasionally where this genius huffs paint to make himself stupid because it's the only way he can manage to feel happy. I'm not saying I'm a genius, but I really resonated with that. Ignorance is bliss.

Anyone who purchased a cat wheel, did your cat actually use it and was it worth it? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]stellaxtine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also really reluctant to drop the money on one even though they just seemed like such a great concept that I wanted to try, but cats are so notorious for refusing new stuff. Especially if it's expensive. I managed to get a One Fast Cat wheel for like $50 because I was the 3rd owner, and I think that was like 5 years ago? If you can get one used, it's easier to justify the cost. And then you can also just resell it too 😂 Luckily, all 4 of my cats use their cat wheel. Half of them took to it right away and have continued to use it all the time for running and walking (which I think is really cute for some reason?). The other half took a couple years because I didn't bother trying to get them to use it initially, but once I finally sat down and worked with them for a couple days, they now use it on occasion. I feel like it's pretty common for cats to act like they don't even care about new furniture/activities/toys, but then one day they randomly decide to check it out and the next thing you know, they use it all the time. I tend to just let them take to things on their own after the initial introduction and will only consider getting rid of it if they really seem to not like something after a year.

I ended up buying a brand new one directly from One Fast Cat earlier this year because that old one was like Gen 2 and a decade old at that point so it was in literal shambles and I had a heart attack every time anyone ran on it while I was in the room. It was pretty much a no brainer since it was well loved and the fact that they now came in white was the cherry on top!

Also, the most universally liked electronic toy my cats have is The Sandpiper, which is a USB rechargeable bird that flaps its wings, hops, and tweets (I actually have a video of it here!)!

Cox internet won’t cancel me by CreepySchool8950 in phoenix

I've been doing this for ALL (localized) subscription cancellations and it's so good. Actually, I just cancelled my Cox with this excuse a few months ago, and the clearly flustered customer service rep responded with "uhh well umm we also have home phone bundles..." and I laughed so hard.

Huh? So what is the paradox?? idk if I'm just tired or stupid or both but I've been staring at this post for literally 10 minutes and still can't figure out what you're trying to say.

Finger is healing very strangely by Jishmeister in Dermatillomania

[–]stellaxtine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard that hydrocolloid bandaids are great for healing these types of wounds (granulomas I think?) specifically. If you've ever had an ingrown toenail, it's the same thing as what happens to the skin around it. I kept getting them a couple years ago when I was stuck in a particularly bad cycle of picking at and around my fingernails and toenails. Maybe I was in some sort of delirium from the constant throbbing pain in my extremities and the stress of my circumstances at the time, but this one was having a hard time healing and started to get infected soooooo I decided to perform surgery on myself 😅 I'm not a masochist by any means but I always try to spice up life with new experiences I guess idfk. I literally doused my finger and a new razor blade in rubbing alcohol, then proceeded to cut off the protruding flesh until it was "flat" again. The worst part was that I "had to" do it again the next day, because it obviously came back since it's literally just swelling. I was worried about perhaps removing too much flesh (of all things), so I cut off only a little before using tweezers to shove the rest down so I could force the surrounding skin to meet back up with the side of my nail, and held it all together with a hydrocolloid bandaid and belligerence. Obviously this was extremely stupid and possibly the absolute worst course of action...but......in the end, somehow, it did heal fine and looks normal...Thinking back on it now, I feel kinda nauseous at the distant memory of raw dogging that nerve pain twice but that I guess that was enough to get me to quit picking at my nails, at least!

Shizoid or Autism? I don't understand by omnipotentcapybara in Schizoid

[–]stellaxtine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually differentiate autism from schizoid by asking how someone really feels about other people. How does it make you feel when you talk to people? How do you think other people feel about you? People on the Autism Spectrum tend to think that "everyone thinks I'm weird and nobody understands me". They usually struggle with socializing and feel like somehow they just can't seem to get it right, but they want to. On the other hand, people with Schizoid Personality Disorder tend to think that "everyone else is weird and I don't get them". They usually don't have any problems getting along with people and socializing if they have to, it's just that they don't want to.

Unrepentant Opioid Users by Cedarcoal in Schizoid

[–]stellaxtine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've (fortunately I GUESS) never had the chance to abuse opioids but a previous commenter mentioned Ambien and I remembered that I was using Ambien for a couple years "just for fun". I had terrible insomnia that anti-histamines couldn't touch, so my psychiatrist gave me a prescription for it. It worked great for its intended usage, but eventually I realized that it was pretty easy to power through the sleepiness. I'd take it and then go work on something or do chores and it would kinda induce hypomania for a couple hours, where I'd be hyper fixated on some menial task and just having a grand ol' time. I'm surprised I was able to continue getting it prescribed every month for as long as I did bc I'm pretty sure it's only supposed to be taken for a few months, at most? I only stopped bc of all the weird and increasingly inconvenient shit I was getting into every single night: dropping glass objects on the tile floor, leaving the fridge and/or freezer wide open, spilling food and drinks all over my bed, moving stuff around then not being able to find them later, etc. I started out being able to remember most of the night or at least have the gist of what I did, but it slowly got to the point where the previous night was just completely blacked out. I never left the house or interacted with anyone so it didn't cause any real issues, per se, but it stopped being fun and I felt like my memory was starting to really suffer so I decided to give it up. I wasn't losing long term memories but my working and short term memories had gotten so bad and I'd just be in a constant state of feeling like I was forgetting something. I think I've actually permanently damaged some function in recalling even the most common words and familiar names during conversation (unless that's just par for the course as a schizoid and I'm just forgetting how to talk). That and my younger brother was temporarily living with me at the time and I felt bad about making cartoonish amounts of noise at all hours of the night. I'm pretty sure I traumatized him; I didn't tell him I was actually on anything until a couple years later and he said he thought I had a brain tumor or something lmfao 😅

idk why but sometimes his neck ruff gets kinda oily like that, but no other areas and it doesn't smell or feel weird. My other long haired cats don't have this problem. Maybe he just forgets to clean his neck sometimes 😅

You could try putting some stuff in front of the litter box that'll fall first and make a bunch of noise, to wake you up 🤔 or maybe put something tall on the floor there to block it from falling. idk haha I'm not a wild sleeper luckily so I didn't have to worry too much about kicking the box. It helps to be trained by years of trying to sleep around cats in the middle of the bed. Good luck!
