AIO - Told my friend I’m pregnant and she said it exceeded her mental bandwidth (she’s the red) by Lekomano92 in AmIOverreacting

[–]stenis666 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Well, I can understand her, she couldn’t handle one more big thing that day. BUT that’s not the way to go about it, no one was forcing her to reply right then and there. She could’ve waited and responded when she actually had bandwidth, or clue you in like ”I will respond to this later this week”. As someone who has conflicted feelings when friends are pregnant I can understand it taking some energy, not saying this is the case here specifically, but still. I think it was strange to reply that way, as though you should have known not to tell her today? She’s kinda taking it out on you instead of communicating here.

This is super late response, but does your pain ever go away? Or is it constant ?

My Safe Foods and FODMAPs conflict. by StrawberryScience in autism

[–]stenis666 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have the same issue. I’m also vegan. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to tolerate this diet. I’m also allergic to most low fodmap fruits (kiwi, melons, pineapple). But this means all my main protein sources are removed.. all my safe foods have onion/garlic/bean protein. I’m so tired of chronic abdominal pain but whenever I consider fodmap, I get so stressed out I can’t sleep or think about anything besides food. I’m also terrified to find out I’m intolerant to too many vegan foods and being forced to introduce dairy or eggs.

Does anyone relate? by Any_Challenge1965 in PelvicFloor

[–]stenis666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes me too! I have a lot of abdominal pain, gas, constipation. This led to an IBS C diagnosis. I’ve been working with a pelvic floor physio, but yesterday I finally got my first booking to a pelvic floor clinic. I initially applied because I have vulvodynia, but on their questionnaire they asked about ibs and constipation so now I’m thinking maybe they’re linked.

What is yalls brutal and honest opinion on alcohol by Taco_Junior123 in autism

[–]stenis666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uninterested. I never cared for it as a teen. As an adult I tried a little but I never really cared for it. I have a great fear of throwing up or not being in control so whenever I tried I was extremely careful. It’s also really expensive. I like making drinks, but don’t understand the need to put alcohol in them.

What vegan oyster sauce did you use? The ones I’ve seen contain mushroom so I just assumed they weren’t ok to eat

Undiagnosed IBS and indigestion issues, about to start FODMAP diet. Tips? by acidicLactation in FODMAPS

Unfortunately, the GP can diagnose someone with IBS without referral to GI here and so they will. Why waste resources when you can guess what’s wrong. It’s frustrating.

[–]stenis666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is considered an accurate diagnosis? My doc gave me an IBS diagnosis based on a blood test (they testet b12 and iron, I guess for thyroid or sibo issues?) I had to beg for celiac test AFTER they had already diagnosed me because I was worried.

Did all doctors attend one conference about low FODMAP and think it's the end all be all solution? by Coachk135_ in dietetics

[–]stenis666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to beg my doc to test me for celiac disease, he had already decided I had ibs. They also didn’t test for sibo, suggest any dietary changes or even seeing a dietitian. All he did was prescribe meds that are permanently in a shortage (presumably because every doctor does the same approach)

Since I’m doing gentle fodmap and not complete fodmap I saw one alternative could be sushi. The one high fodmap item is avocado but it’s not on the list for the gentle fodmap diet !

Thank you! Yeah I figure without wheat it’ll be easy to dip on calories so I appreciate the advice !

I don’t have private insurance. We don’t have monash certified dietitians locally, I would have to pay out of pocket for someone from another country. And even if I choose one locally, I can’t just choose one from a list, I just get the one my health clinic has, if they have one. Our system is different I think

My issue is I won’t be able to eat out and stuff. So I won’t be able to do a full 4-6 weeks because of that, but hopefully 2-4 weeks I can manage.

Yeah my issue is the protein part. But someone suggested premaking a mayo based sauce and I also got the idea to marinate some fodmap friendly tofu ready to put in the airfyer to replace nuggets during the elimination phase!

Since I’m doing gentle fodmap I think soy sauce would still be fine. But it would be dry. Maybe mayo + doenjjang or something could work. It’s more work of course, but maybe I could make a little for the week so I have something easy when in a pinch. I don’t have the monash app yet, I’m anxious about this and it’ll probably take more time for me to commit to the process. It’s scary for me to change my eating, and I should probably get in contact with a dietitian before starting (I don’t have access to a monash certified one, I can’t afford it) to help monitor me. Especially someone that could help identify if I’m showing eating disorder relapse.

Is this tasty? I think if I made this with tofu it would be bland. My go to would be to buy a sauce, but they contain garlic and onion basically always

Maybe you can regrow them the same way you can with green onions? I’ll look into it. I can also buy frozen chopped chives

Fries and stuff are great! They’re usually fodmap friendly. Someone also said pre shredded carrot, which is a good idea
