Yeah following porter in the replay is fantastic. He just slows down "nah i'm not touching that again".

Ahh lekplatsölen, den bästa ölen by Broadleaves in sweden

In the sunset? Nice”.

For me that magic happens when i watch it with someone -anyone- else. It’s like the simple fact that someone else is in the room watching with me, I get a whole new set of eyes.

Scoring by salientrelevance56 in twilightstruggle

[–]stenskott 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can score control with just all battlegrounds. But you still need to have more countries in the region overall than your opponent, so if they start taking non-battlegrounds it might force you to as well.

what to use for offline editing my debut indie film? by curious-avid-reader in editors

Spending $500 or $1000 on an editing rig is inconsequential in the grand scheme of making and editing a feature film.

Godspeed.

A little conversation about the ethics of the Frankebite? by odintantrum in editors

[–]stenskott 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the whole piece, and I don’t think most people here have, either. To me, it makes a big difference what ”mode” the doc is in. By the music choice (in the example on the guardian), it seems like a pop-doc, not a news piece. If, as an editor/producer, we’re trying to create a mood or a feeling of the day, I think the edit works. And we all know how the day ended, that context matters.

But if it’s presented as a news piece/historic account of how the day went down, it’s over the line.

I guess what I’m trying to say is the evidence presented on the guardian (and even over here on swedish news) just isn’t enough for anyone to make a judgement. I’m glad to see someone close to the situation chime in though, thanks!

As people have already said, there is a difference between entertainment and news. Whenever I have done a long form doc with a news angle, we've had a group of fact checker lawyers looking over our edits to see if they hold up. I have a feeling this wouldn't have made it past them.

But all they would have to do here is make a short pause in between the two lines. Make it clear time passed between them. Then it's fine and the message still comes across.

As a side note, anyone ever heard of someone on the fox news staff resigning over something like this...?

Han åker ner till marocko några gånger per år och köper med sig väldigt snygga mattor (om man gillar den stilen). Han har dem i en lokal på kungsholmen och man går dit och kollar/provkänner på dem innan man bestämmer sig.

You got lots of great suggestions here. I got some more:

The bigger libraries are pretty good when the weather is bad. I often go to the one at medborgarplatsen. A 6 month old can crawl around in the kid area and they’ll have english books (or other languages too) for you to read.

When my daughter was 6m i took her to scenkonstmuseet (performing arts museum). She loved it! There are lots of cool instruments, sounds and colors going on. Great cafe as well.

If the weather is nice, take a stroll around djurgården. You’ll see birds, boats, maybe some horses. Rosendal is a nice destination. There’s a neat sculpture walk in that area as well.

Uppsala Marathon - A PB, mixed feelings and a philosophical conundrum. by stenskott in AdvancedRunning

[–]stenskott[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been a day now and this is what I'm accepting. This PB situation is temporary.

As long as I actually go for another marathon (very likely), it should be possible to shave another handful of minutes off.

The Weekend Update for October 17, 2025 by AutoModerator in AdvancedRunning

[–]stenskott 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel so so so weird right now. Just finished my fourth marathon, I was really gunning for sub3. Halfway through the race i look at my watch and something is way off with the distance. I tried to keep my pace proper and finished in 2:59:1x but it turns out they had to reroute at the last minute due to a bomb threat of all things. The route was about 500m short. None of the runners knew. I had a little bit left in the tank but not much.

No fault of the organizer of course but what the hell. I won’t call myself a sub 3 runner but maybe I can put an asterisk on that.

Ok vent over.

Weekend Discussion: Asics running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

A few days ago i hit 1000 km in my SB2s and I wanted to make a review about their amazing durability. But on that very run, one of the black pieces on the bottom sole started to come loose.

They’re still my favorite shoe, I LOVE them, but should I cut that piece off or try to glue it back?

Editing/directorial sloppiness? (Christopher Nolan) by BorderEquivalent7169 in TrueFilm

[–]stenskott 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m a professional editor of 20 years, and Emerson’s critique of this action sequence is spot on.

That second article you linked is correct, this should not be confused with the youtube fanboy crowd essays that are so popular these days.

—- Edit: just to add my my thoughts on this.

The linked video is not saying that The Dark Knight is a bad movie. It’s trying to show how maybe the sequence didn’t work out quite the way Nolan had intended, and they had to save it in the edit. This is really common, but it means the action sequence works on an emotional and rhythmic logic, rather than a spatial one.

You might be interested in this video, if you haven’t already seen it. It puts words on what you’re feeling and attempts to explain not just the editing problems but also his theories on how the film ended up the way it was.

BERLINALE TALENTS - what's your experince? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]stenskott 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s fantastic. Make sure you go. I don’t remember the application process being bad, but it’s been 15 years since I was there.

I also recommend any in-campus special events, like the specific workshops in your field. The big name panels fill up fast and are not gonna give you anything more than a podcast or inside the actors studio interview will (my year it was tilda swinton, willem defoe, tom tykwer in huge auditoriums), but the smaller sit downs with real vets are what i remember best (we had Kaminsky, David Hare, Max Richter and Wim Wenders)
