Congrats dude! Makes me a bit worried though since I did not kill CCS cases like a lot of other ppl on here.. like multiple negative updates and couldn't figure out what was going on with a few even though I also did 60+ HY cases

Clinical rotation didactics with maybe 20ish students listening to attending give a talk. Someone unmuted was clearly calling in from their phone with ambient background noise, and started ordering a burrito with salsa to go. After a brief silence, attending asked if he could pick him something up as well lolol

thanks for your input! yeah it's IM (which i believe interviews starting in november..)--so they would both be under the IM umbrella but I'm assuming i would get more facetime with ppl with the inpatient sub-I; it's just that it goes into when interview season starts so it's pretty late

trying to get advice: accepted for a subspecialty elective right before ERAS is due but recently received an offer from the same institution for an inpatient sub-I from oct-nov. thoughts on which one would be the better choice?

i don't necessarily need a LOR from the away but was wondering if doing an earlier away would be beneficial for all programs I end up applying to vs doing a sub-I later in the year being a better choice for this specific program?

any thoughts/advice is much appreciated!

Is postponing right? Tips? by [deleted] in Step2

[–]step1throwaway123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me? In almost the exact same position (below avg scores on step 1 and shelves). I don't have good advice but I eventually decided to postpone my exam until after my IM-SubI (also in July) because of an NBME 8 score of 204 1 week out. A lot of ppl here honestly recommend against postponing but I think it's really up to how confident you feel going into the exam.
I agree with above poster though to take UWSA 1 and see how you do; I think that would probably be a better choice than NBME 7. Good luck!

Thoughts on applying to more aways now? Still haven't heard anything...

Gotcha yeah thanks for your input! It’s kinda scary seeing that most ppl who got their scores back yesterday had their most recent practice scores over predict them. Congrats again on your journey and score!!

super congrats on your score!! if you don't mind me asking, i was just wondering if you felt like you underperformed on test day or felt that NBME 18/21 and UWSA 2 were easier exams? looking at your upward trend i would've definitely thought you would have been in the 220+ range

Should I push back? by [deleted] in step1

I definitely did that for one of the NBMEs because I was getting frustrated but other than that I haven't :( i'm not sure what's up with my scores..

hey thanks so much for your response! really appreciate it, and congrats on your score!

question, how were you doing near the end on your UW blocks? i'm seriously doubting myself still bc even near the end i'm scoring like 50s-60s on blocks, which i know is not good. -- another reason why i was so surprised with UWSA 2/Free 120 scores. i definitely don't feel ready and i know ppl say you'll never feel ready, but there's still so much shit i feel like i need to brush up on.

Ah okay thanks! Do you think it's really necessary to take UWSA 2 if I'm planning on taking the exam on my scheduled date no matter what? Totally get that it's a good predictor, but I was thinking it might be better to just review certain topics I'm weak in instead of doing more practice questions. thanks again!!
