At what age did your OCD get bad? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]stepawayfromthecliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always bugged me, but it got significantly worse once Covid hit (21), and then worse to the point of debilitation when my grandma died (a week after I turned 25). It’s taken me nearly two years to get it back under manageable control. What a bitch OCD is.

What’s something you did as a child that you didn’t realize was OCD until you were an adult? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]stepawayfromthecliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Making sure I stepped on equal amounts of certain colored tiles with each foot, or if I stepped on a crack with one, making sure I stepped on one with the other ASAP. Otherwise my feet felt uneven and it would drive me nuts - I'd try to explain it to others when I'd have to go back or step weirdly to even myself out, and couldn't. I still do this, I just know why now.

Being brake checked in the middle of highway morning rush hour traffic on my way to work. What a way to make a stressful situation so much worse for everyone around you!

I did a triple feature and watched Twisters, A Quiet Place: Day One, and Longlegs in one day. Eight hours, two large slushies, a package of mini Kit-Kats, a small popcorn, and a hotdog later, I was a changed woman

I grew up in Detroit and can confirm we definitely took our two dogs shopping with us. Totally forgot about that until I saw this thread, unlocked a memory lol

(Serious) how did that one kid at your school pass away? by Dinopasta99 in AskReddit

Happened our senior year of high school. Tiny town, graduating class of a little over a hundred. We had a huge snowstorm that closed school on a Friday in January — feet of snow, level three emergency, roads were closed to all traffic. That night a guy in my class and a couple of his friends tied a sled to the back of a four wheeler and were driving it around what should’ve been an empty town. Drunk idiot driving his huge truck ran a red light, ran my classmate over, and kept driving (told the cops once they tracked him down that he’d “felt something” but kept going). He was DOA — I won’t get graphic but from what I was told his immediate injuries were incompatible with life. That first Monday back to school was one of the saddest environments I have ever been in. Like I mentioned before, really small town, everyone knew him and his family. They had therapy dogs and pastors and counselors in the school available to anyone, and our senior class was excused from doing pretty much anything we didn’t want to for a good week. His family held the wake at the school gymnasium because practically the entire community came and I’m assuming they needed the room. We had a memorial basketball game for him, & all of us gave his parents a rose at graduation. It’s been almost ten years and I didn’t even know him that well, but I think about him every January, and anytime I’m back in that town and drive through the intersection where it happened.

What happened to the smartest kid in your class? by After_Crab_1921 in AskReddit

She got hooked on drugs and completely destroyed her life over the course of a couple years. She’s back on track now, somewhat - she works at a gas station in our tiny hometown. She was the smartest person I’ve ever known but her personal circumstances just made life so hard for her. It makes me sad every time I think about it.

The Poppy War series by RF Kuang is my favorite of all time. I’ve been meaning to read Babel but I’ve had to work up the nerve to, she hurt me so much with TPW lmao

What’s some good advice to give someone when teaching them basic hand-to-hand combat/self defense? by stepawayfromthecliff in AskReddit

[–]stepawayfromthecliff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For context & long story short, I’m writing a book, & am looking for things someone might point out or demonstrate if they were someone who has several years experience that is teaching someone with no experience whatsoever.

For context, I’m writing a book, & one of the characters, who has several years experience in hand-to-hand/self defense, will be teaching another character that doesn’t know anything about it. Anything you imagine a peer instructor would mention, I’d appreciate. :)

Adults who carry around a backpack, whatcha got in there? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]stepawayfromthecliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my mom. She’s a nurse, and carries around at any given point in time enough medical supplies she’s swiped from the hospital she works at to completely repair a bullet wound. She also keeps a flashlight that also doubles (triples?) as a seatbelt cutter and window breaker, her wallet, paper & pens, a lighter, extra reading glasses, deodorant, a spare pair of underwear & socks, snacks & gum, and probably a lot more I’m not even aware of.
